I hadn't thought of that. It could work. I have some scrap balsa that came with the engraver, I'll give it a shot tonight.
while you are at it, I was thinking that you could slightly modify the letters and numbers 6 9 0 R D etc to leave them "open" to that the cutout remains. Balsa could be rigid enough. Then we hand finish with a diamond fine tip

that's 4 symbols to finish. Serials we could select the easy arabics

Also thinking magnetic sheets, like they make refrigerator magnets and bumper stickers out of, have potential.

For a brass dial, they'd probably need something steel behind the dial, but that could be anything.

interesting ideas guys.

I think maybe cutting the text into a ligher adhesive like the pre mask that is used by decal shops to apply decals. you are using painters tape but same idea.
probably only good for one use. but the cost is cheaper so you can print off a few and include them in a pack .
I cant see the wood working too well on the curve of the case. but who knows.

I know we are being very technical at the moment guys - and that's good - that's what we do here - we're, not like other threads, etc. We make stuff.

But just a quick Heads-Up - Membership of the "Sunday Evening Kitchen Shot Club" will be opening between 1800-2000 GMT on Sunday. Existing members need to bear in mind that Membership needs to be renewed each time Membership is opened - that means you; Karbon, 369, DPD, etc . . .

Now, back to technical matters pertaining to Etching and Engraving. Well done lads . . .good stuff going on.

I know hairspray is used as a temporary adhesive in some applications…it’s sticky, but not permanent, and cleans up with alcohol, which shouldn’t hurt dials. That might work as a cheap, temporary, renewable adhesive.

Now to find the phone number of my ex girlfriend from the 80s, who bought Aquanet by the gallon…

Interesting...the fellow running the new rubies site that goes via the moniker 'Ken' is playing it cagey wanting the $630 for the case paid via paypal under 'friends and family'.

Not inclined to do that.

Hello team,
hope you don't mind changing the topic however still 1016 related.
For my build I got some nice 2mm spring bars, the problem is, they won't fit the raffles bracelets (tested on jubilee & rivet).
Do you guys have a solution for that?

Thanks!
