Just had a rather unpleasant experience selling a watch.

Prospective buyer (won’t name, don’t ask) requests for pics. That’s fine. I am happy to provide hi-res pics of every aspect of the watch. 🤗

But then following up with a low ball offer is not cool. Quite disrespectful as I care to price reasonably. I spend hours making the best work of my current ability. what I put as work fee is far from covering this time.🤔 The money is just to cover tools and consumables…and it’s also my hobbyist pleasure to see that people value my work enough to pay a bit for it.

Then doubting my word when I inform that the watch is already sold…🤔

…and then asking for a commission.🤔

Come on man, I don’t want to have anything to do with you. I just don’t need the aggravation as I know you will nitpick me to death.😙😙😙

Sorry for the unusual rant, but I needed to get this off my chest.

I once bought a watch for a colleague because he doesn't like using his card in the Internet....

A Blaken Sub.

I paid.

It arrived.

His mum sent me the cash via PP G&S - so I'm out of pocket already.

A week or s later his dad (the guy is 35 BTW) calls and moans that I've ripped him off because the battery's dead already.

Me: eh?

Him: the battery's dead. You'll have to buy another.

Me: eh?

Him: it's stopped running. The battery's dead.

Me: err. It's an automatic. Has he worn it?

.....

Let's say I'm listing a watch for $900

- I will take it for $650 shipped
- $600? (Or insert a random number)

Once I responded with my counter offer they disappeared

I wonder where are people's etiquette these days

Bumfuck Nowhere
If I saw a watch I wanted to add to my collection offered for sale at 900 "whatevers", and I thought it was worth 900 to me, I wouldn't dream of lowballing the seller I would buy it without hesitation.

If on the other hand I could buy that identical watch elsewhere for less, I would pass on the M2M and buy the identical but cheaper one.

Now, boot on other hoof ..........

If I was selling a watch for 900 magic beans and someone offered me 650 etc they would either get ignored if I'm having a good day or told to fuck off if bad day. I'd sooner keep the watch.

Some guys will accept a lower offer, also counter offer, yeah, that's fine it's their watch their choice.

Also there are many messers on any internet site that will offer, and when you accept they disappear, they are most likely potless twats trying to look good in front of their fellows.

IME selling anything these days is a pain in the butt hole :ROFLMAO:

Let’s not forget our poor TDs
Better. let’s not forget idiots like the one here

Thread 'Another terrible bad review of Hont Watch.'
https://forum.replica-watch.info/threads/another-terrible-bad-review-of-hont-watch.10982261/
I know I’ve said before but I truly feel sorry for the TDs when I read some of the idiotic complaints that are posted by members who have just joined and done no research on the rep business and have totally unrealistic expectations

Off topic, but same situation - selling on forums in general

I was selling a dolls house, it was massive, 3 levels and was made for the size of Barbie dolls, took two people to lift it.
It was close to $300 new, and was still like new. Advertised for $50, a bargain

Someone contacted me, said they would come over and pick it up next day. I helped them lift it into the trailer and strap it down.
He then hands me $20. I said no it's $50, he said no I only want to pay $20. A bit of back and forth happened. I was pissed off.
Then I just started un strapping it, he asked what I was doing. I said I would rather set it on fire than sell it to you.

I dragged the thing off myself and he left without a word. Ended up giving it to a neighbour.

A good ending

I've bought plenty here on M2M, most straight up for what the asking price is. if I offer low on an item (not low ball) I always put the preface in that I will not be offended if the offer is not accepted.

For most of the reasons stated here - I don't sell M2M, I'd rather give them away than have the hassle!

Yeah it’s getting worse. I have a guitar for sale on eBay, asking £5.5k geezer messages me loads of questions about condition etc, fair enough, then messages me saying if you can do for £5k I’ll have it. I thinks, close enough, sod it, send him an offer for £5k, me next day, ‘you ghosting me bro?’

I have a couple of unused items I was thinking about selling them here, but I'm hesitant. The treatment you mentioned above is the major issue. I am not good at dealing with shit like this, I might end up getting banned because I blow off my steam to the low-ballers in PMs.

I have been through all these on eBay already. Selling something for €300 but getting a reply of €60...

The trick is to reply in a monosyllable « no »
Then leave the PM and click on ignore new messages.

Don’t ask me how I know 😙

Back of beyond
I sold a TC sub here many years ago and a buyer asked for photos of every date so he could be satisfied all the dates lined up perfectly. I explained that they generally don't including on TCs watches , it's a rep watch and they aren't perfect blah blah. He insisted so I thought I'd do the right thing to avoid any whining later and sent all the photos to him..... I'm still waiting for a reply or a thank-you.
For me if I get the slightest bit of unease these days I flag it

For a TC, I wonder why you even bothered.
