Selling in M2M - annoying buyers

Putting a watch for sale is for me an uneasy experience, I want everything to be right and I probably shake at least as much as the final buyer until the watch reaches him and he's happy with it.
Another bothering aspect is annoying prospective buyers. The insecure, the lazy, the brazen, self-entitled folk who think they're buying on amazon or who simply think they're smarter than everyone else. I'll start off with a couple of examples and hope you can share your experiences as well, so maybe some of those buyers will read this and learn a bit about "buying etiquette".

Those who...
You put a watch for sale for, say 630$, shipping included. You even post "open to reasonable offers". You receive a PM: "I'm taking it for 500 now". You either ignore the buyer or answer "what did you drink?" or even "F*** off". The prospective buyer reports you for being "rude".

Those who....
You put a ZF 15500 for sale. You receive a PM: "What's the difference between ZF and APSF of this model? Which one is more gen-like in terms of dial color? How is the quality of the case finishing? Will someone recognize it's a fake watch?".

Those who...
You sell a diving watch. Buyer receives it and sends you a PM: "The watch doesn't work! It will only run for a couple of hours and the small wheel can't be pulled, it's stuck!". You answer: "Did you perchance unscrew the SCREW-DOWN crown?". Answer: "The what?"

Please share your experiences, I'm sure there's more annoying and hilarious anecdotes to tell.
@Feefo I can't not agree more with you bro !

This also often happens when you sell a car privately. Karl Arsch then brings his friend with him, who is of course a super expert in the field. He then grumbles about every little shit and tells you how run-down this rust bucket is. Fine. If the car is so terrible, why don't you buy another one, you honks ;-)
To be fair, the vast majority of cars I have seen AND gone to look at have been utter garbage. Not sure if @Dave2302 shares the sentiment but I’ve found that there are just as many “super expert” car sellers as there are buyers. I’m near NYC and can confidently say the motto around here is “ridden hard and put away wet”

100% agreed, 50 + years in the Motor Trade and I've never had a complaint, but then I don't sell anything as a Trader, the only cars are sell are well maintained from my own fleet, and thus I rarely get any complaints at all, and if I do it's normally something small which, within reason I will fix for free if within the first 3 months, but then again, just like the Watches here, I choose the buyer !!

TBH I don't think I have ever made a profit on selling cars, (or Boats).

I have often sussed out a tyre kickin' PITA and simply told them "I'm sorry, but I really don't think this is the car for you sir"

You lot seem to have had a really unfortunate time of it. Pretty much all my sales have been entirely drama-free (runs around touching wooden things, as currently attempting to mentally prepare myself to curb the hoarding tendencies and sell some of the collection...).

Anyhoo, the worst I've had is some potential buyers coming across as a bit rude - but that's mainly because I'm an overly polite elderly English person and tend to judge others by my own standards...

And I do agree with @Feefo that selling is stressful - not only because it means parting with precious things, but also because I too am on tenterhooks at getting everything just right when I sell, and anxious till I hear the package arrived safely.

Dildos post count: 1 or 2 at the time of messaging me and I don't think they were nice posts.

Dildo: What's going on man?
Everything up to snuff on the inner workings?
The watch looks cool.
175 I will buy it as soon as I get a yes.
I trust your not selling me crap.
Right?

Me: Hello,
Sure the watch is ticking away as she should. I've had her for about 5 or 6 years now, so she's one of the good ones, referring to the A7750 movement.
What you read and see in the listing is what you would get. Unfortunately, I'm going to have pass on you mate, have a look around on the forum a bit, plenty to learn about and plenty of pieces get listed. I will not sell to brand new members, sorry.

Dildo: Why? I just bought a watch from JTime. I'm a serious buyer. Well thanks for saving me money.
I will never understand why anybody turns away money.

Dildo: Another thing. Why did you tell me how great the watch was just to kick me in the nuts? I was going to give your watch a good Home. Super lame, mate.

Me:
You asked if it was crap.
You'll understand, with time.

Dildo: I'll never understand the stupidity of racism.

Dildo: If the watch sits because you wouldn't sell it, that's crap

Dildo: I mean there is a whole section on how not to get scammed. You're sweating a nigga over crap!
"Guy don't step on the lot less he wants to buy!
There just sitting there to give you their money.
Are you going to take it , are you man enough to take it."

Dildo:I really searched for decent members to purchase from. You let me down. And this forum.
Post it the ad next time.

His profile Pic was blank/stock

Then he posted this

For many years I would sell to brand new members with kindness without pause if they were first to pm, like I was rehabbing ex-cons or something. A problem dog always ends up biting you.

Anyway, it was at this point in my life that it was obvious to me that we really are living in a simulation. Cheerio!

This thread is hilarious, I really feel for some of you guys. Haven’t sold anything yet, no immediate plans to either but I can feel the frustration

By the way ghosting works both ways, couple of times I was ghosted as a buyer and you just chalk it up to experience and move on. It’s not very nice as it only takes 2 minutes to communicate with someone.

One guy had a watch that V1 had a known issue with the spelling of the month on a month/day complication. This was before I’d completed any purchases on M2M and read all the advice about not being rushed and ask what you need to etc. Seller advised it was V2 and the month spelling was correct, said he’d send me a picture when he got home from work. Got home and saw from the sales thread that the watch was sold.

Other time guy had an ad on M2M that had been up just over a month, no serious interest from the thread activity. Watch came with various straps including one custom one, quite expensive but not my style at all. Asked him if he’d consider selling the watch with just the base strap. No answer, next thing sale is withdrawn.

I don’t know if this is unreasonable but how hard is it to say, no mate not willing to split the package, thanks for your interest.

I personally feel compelled to answer all pm's, even if it's to simply say no. If I have concerns on noobs I'll openly tell them, I even pushed one or two to get certified before I sold to them. Sometimes I'll simply take time saying there's high interest and I'll get back if I choose to sell to them.

This is one kind I'll never understand.
Posts in sales thread: "I'm interested. PM me".

Why should the seller pm you? Can't you be bothered to do it yourself?
