I once had a buyer (not at RWI),
He said I could come pick up the watch in person as it might be cheaper than sending it by post (shipping within Germany costs around 7 euros, insured).

I answered him, OK, I live at the other end of Germany, if you want to drive the 700 km, I'll expect you at my place tomorrow evening.
Suddenly he didn't want the watch anymore (not even by post, for 7 euros) :)

I’ve had a few over the years.

When I was a noob is sold a straps co generic deployant bought for $60 sold for $30 - when he got it he wasn’t happy with the quality (there was nothing wrong with it). It was back when the feedback rating system was on your profile and I didnt want the hassle so I just refunded him…now days I would have a different response.

And then there are the low ball offers who you go back with another offer and they just disappear

Then there are those who say “I’ll take it” you send payment details and they just disappear. Then you sell to the next in line but the one who disappeared comes back weeks later angry the sale was not to them…like they have left it in their Amazon cart

Yes!!! German buyers are often screwed and their first question is: Where do you live?
Come on guys, even if I live in the neighborhood I don’t want some strange noobs in my backyard who want to buy illegal things 😂

absolutely right.
The question of where do you live could come (among Germans) because Germany is relatively small (so the chance of people living closer to each other is greater).

I think that this question (where do you live) is NOT common in Australia, Asia, Russia etc. 🤣 🤣

Yeah, but for 7 Euro (DHL tariff) you can maybe drive 50km with your car and the chances, that the seller lives within a 25km radius is even in small Germany not really high ;-)
If I then factor in my hourly rate and consider that I could earn money as an alternative, it's probably even cheaper to send the watch to my neighbour with DHL than to bring it to him in person :geek:

Given my day job hourly rate, I should not even bother doing modding 😂 and do some adhoc consulting instead

Not for watches or M2M but shitty buyers can be found everywhere...

Once was selling my old PC... price agreed, everything settled, he would take it, I agreed that I would take any part back that wasn't working

Hauled that heavy ass fucker from my apartment down to the ground floor, had already packed it out, seperated the graphics card into a box and removed the CPU to prevent pin damage....

Buyer arrived and said he only bought "X" amount of cash (20% lower than agreed upon) and i could take it or leave it

Flipped him off and told him to go to Fry's and Best Buy instead

That's a classic, happens very often with eBay smalltime stuff (my wife can sell anything, ANYTHING on eBay...). That's the folk who think they're smarter than you, they think that when they show up and the opportunity is right there you'll be in disadvantage and will eventually accept the lowball offer instead of waiting for the next buyer. I usually just answer "Well then, goodbye" and they realize they are the ones who took the extra effort and are "right there" in disadvantage. Waiting for the next message on the mobile doesn't cost me anything, the trip to my place did cost you something, moron.

This also often happens when you sell a car privately. Karl Arsch then brings his friend with him, who is of course a super expert in the field. He then grumbles about every little shit and tells you how run-down this rust bucket is. Fine. If the car is so terrible, why don't you buy another one, you honks ;-)

When you do mods, compound this with unrealistic requests and nitpicking

Once I had a guy almost begging for a Pie Pan…I took the request and discussed for days the specs and price

Then at the end, I said « now we make the reserved sales thread »

The answer « can i have a few days to think about it? »
….man you have already wasted hours of my time 😑

I told the guy that I changed my mind and that I would list it as a normal sales…which was snapped within the day.

That’s why I am very reluctant to take commissions. It bridles creativity and you just add more pain to yourself in the process.
