MMMM Scotch. I can get most of it down, it's all good but for some reason I keep going back to Macallan, the older the better.

Just bought a gift pack of the 4 Johnny Walkers to see if anyone of them come close to Talisker! I'll let you know later.

I'm a big fan of anything this place produces:-

probably because I live 10 minutes from their distillery. I like to have it with good black coffee and good dark chocolate which is what they recommend on the distillery tour.

Another vote for Highland Park as well.

Ah nice part of the country alfat

Cheers bud, We're spoilt for choice round here with Glen Ord & Glenmorangie being two other good local brews.

I've only just recently got into whisky which is odd I suppose for a Scotsman and I must admit I'm still v partial to a nice Cognac (or a voddy bru if I'm slumming it).

Whisky not Whiskey

Anyone know the difference? By the way I just discovered a bottle of Dimple Haig in the cellar. Any comments?

Different countries use different spellings. If it's made in Ireland or the US it is usually Whiskey. If it's made in Scotland, Canada or even Japan they spell it Whisky.

Speaking of Whisky, we finished of 3/4 of a bottle of Macallan Cask Strength today during a round of golf. Nice stuff but at 59% (118 proof) this stuff get's you happy in a hurry!

I'm a whisk(e)y amateur rather than a scotch lover, but I guess that was what you were aiming for.
Favorite whiskey: Lagavulin 16
Great value for money

Glenfiddich probably fav. Some to do with money, other just taste. Use to drink blends, Chivas etc but now can not drink them at all. Single malt or nothing. Stopped at a duty free store (crossing into U.S.) and manager was a Scotch lover. Bottles were not "hundreds" but "thousands". God I wanted just one sooooooo bad. But wife would not let me sell the car.

Like most scotch drinkers, I KNOW what I like ..... 1.5oz Glenlevit 12yr mixed with
1.0oz of chilled Evian (no ice) preferably enjoyed with a fresh Arturo Fuentes Robusto .. .....

Sorry, but, they purposely age it for 12 years so you can water it down? Sorry....just doesn't seem right to me. But you are right..if that's what you like...that's what you like. Just don't let them know at Glenlevit...LOL

Well, there is and always will be a debate about what in your scotch. Some people feel it brings out more of the flavors, others feel it is an affront to what single malt scotches are. I prefer it with a few drops of water (Glen 12 that is), but to each his own. Some of the cask strength malts I prefer with a bit more water.

I really enjoy Glen, but Highland Park is a very good blend with a bit more smoke like flavor. Abelour is very good as well. Scotch is such a personal preference kind of game it is truly hard to have a good discussion without being getting defensive about "their" scotch.

I am glad to see there are a lot of scotch drinkers out here and I am always willing to try new and different brands (I currently have about 18 different brands in my bar as I am a sucker for variety sometimes).

As long as you don't throw ice in it, we're good ;-)

Lagavulin, Caol Ila, Ardbeg, Macallan, the list is never ending.
When I travel, I like to buy in duty free shops new brands I don't know.
