Tried some $$ Scotch... or maybe it was Whisky.

.. hm..
either way tasted like the back side of a moose !

Might have been whisky actually, but it's put me off on scotch now as well.
(Actually I do like irish creme....mudslides and the likes)

I'll stick to a good vodka, sake and some rum..

But as you can prob tell I'm not much of an alcohol expert..

Just finished some Johnnie Walker Blue Label.......yum......caught myself sniffing the empty glass...I do it every time I drink the stuff. Friggin' incredible. Had some Talisker 10 year last night. It takes to a little water pretty good. It's not for the weak or the "sweet drinks" crowd, though......As they say, it's a bruiser!

The only Johnnie Walker I like is Blue, the rest taste like @$$. Nobody mentioned Glenfiddich, 12, 15 & 18yr. Believe it or not I prefer the 12 over the other 2, but then again maybe price has something to do with it :)

Since Highland Park is getting good reviews here I will have to try it. Is it a single malt or blend?

Cheers

Chris

I'll throw in Glenfiddich 18year old but I agree, for the price, nothing can beat the 12yr old in the range.

Just finished a bottle of Aberlour 12 yr and on to a bottle of Macallan 12 yr. Both are yummy, but I prefer the Aberlour.

20 yrs ago I was a Talisker lover, it has that strong peaty taste, but then the marketing guys got involved and the price went up 10 fold; bummer.

Some years later I was staying in a hotel opposite the Ballantines distillery near Glasgow. I was kept awake at night by the sound of geese, yes geese. In the morning I was told that they have traditionally used 'guard' geese to patrol the facility at night. Unfortunately for the geese someone broke in one night (maybe a hotel guest) and stole the geese. Honestly, this is a true, unsubstantiated, story!

+1 for Highland Park.

Also fond of Laphroaig, got a bottle of 18 year old on the go at the moment.

My wife and I went here for a holiday one year - she's never letting me do a stills tour again......

Whisky - malt

I'm a fan of Lagavulin, Highland Park and the old standby - Talisker, none of which should have more than a tablespoon of water to open them up. Cheers.

I am a lover of the single malt.

Currently have a bottle of Macallen 18 open for after dinner. Keep a decanter of Macallen 12 on the bar along with a bottle of Glenlivet 21 for after work. Lagavulin 16, Glenfarclas 25 & Laphroaig 25 under the counter.

Just looked at a bottle of 25 Year MaCallan - $726. The supply is insufficient to keep up with demand and you can bet that the $$$ will continue to increase.

Picked a Johnny Blue for $120 in duty free shop in Belize - sweet!

Current sipping bottle is Aberlour - "a'bunadh", non-chill filtered single malt cask strength from speyside

Geez, I need to hang with you big spenders. Currently sipping Macallan 15yr old and that's about the most I can get away with these days. Picked up a new bottle today as the old one is get polished off this weekend.

$120 is a great price for JW blue! I should have picked up a bottle when I was in Belize last year just to have in in my bar. Personally I was not all that impressed with it when I tried it. I'll see what the price is down in Mexico when I'm there in a couple of weeks.

Cheers all!
