I have a Noob 127 and 217 from the very first Noob batches. I am tempted to buy the KW127 just to see first hand how they compare.

I found the issue. I sent Chris a message but thought his wisdom and others may benefit. There is a ring moving around freely. Any idea of what it is and if it needs to be removed or put back into place.

The "ring" is the click spring. Part number 21 at the pic.

Maybe on feet of the spring is broken. Or the feet just jump out of the hole.
Normally a easy fix.
If you need a new spring the ETA part number is 6497.430

Sorry for bumping this thread but from what I see the kw dial lume is a lot greener than the gen and noob?

Can any kw owners confirm or deny this? Do

It actually is not green compared to gen mate. It must be that you had compared it because Lume was charged just a bit whereas the others you see had no lume at all.

Great Capture but I feel that noob's engraving and logo was better than the KW127, a bit thicker and more gen like than the KW / v6 for sure. Again, not very noticeable on the wrist but side by side is quite noticeable.

So now that both the KW and Z factory 127's have been out for a while does it make any sense to buy either watch if I already have a Noob 127 (bought from the first few batches made)? I am talking about out of the box without mods?

I think if you like 217, i'd say without mods, KW did a better job on it than the 127 because i have both and have the 127 noob, noob is better in dial printing and a lot more.

217 is surely a nice piece from v6 to add, dial printing is very nicely done/ boldiness, font, placement and all that is really nice!

Thanks for the reply matt
I have the noob 127 and love the watch more than my gen 372! The brushed midcase is sexier than the polished 372 case

Have placed an order for a marlin kw127 but have the option of having my noob modded by marlin instead
What do you think is better?

I would love to hear Marlin's opinion on this since he's handled both and knows them in every aspect.

I think you can consult Marlin about that but If I were your in shoes, I'd have the noob modded as it's better imho although not in every aspect but enough to make it ahead of the v6/kw release.

Just a quick chime in, both the noob and the KW have their plus and minuses. The KW has better finishes than the noob with the exception of the deeper engraving on the last version of the noob, however where not as deep the engraving on the KW is excellent. On the other hand the noob had flat bridge screws, thick dagger regulator, and where the noob hand no stamp under the balance the KW has the wrong markings for a 127, these flaws make the KW a more expensive watch to mod. Again both have their highlights but as the model advances the finishes have improved, but where they improve in one area they lack in others as stated above. That said for the models currently available right now the KW is the only one I would mod at this time and of course I would always be willing to upgrade the old noobs.

@marlin2284

Thanks for the comparisons, really useful

What about the wrong fonts of KW bridges PANERAI engravings ??

Ale,

Where the engraving on the last batch of Noob 127's what I called the V4, was deep and crisp, it still wasn't the proper font. Also if you look at the Noob, the finishes were not as good as the new KW. What I mean by this is on the Noob the bridge bevels were virtually nonexistent, the sunburst was not as pronounced nor as even and the bridges just didn't have a crisp finish with the exception of the engraved "PANERAI" text. In some cases the text would go over the edge of the bridge where the bevel would be. Now, on the older version Noob they did had better text, margins and bevels, however the text was very shallow.

The KW has much better finishes on the bridges with very good bevels and text margins that don't take it over the side of the bridge. Also if you look at the "R" in Panerai, the KW is a better representation as far as font, it is just not as deep nor crisp as the Noob but overall a good representation.

In a perfect world we would have the crisp deep text on the Noob with the fantastic finishes if the KW, but in the real world we have to work with the best that is out there at the moment. Both are excellent representations of the gen but neither are as perfect as the real deal....nor have any past or present to date, but if your going to go with a 127 now the KW is the preferred version out now...

Sorry for the long explanation.......

Please note the colors will be different due to the different lighting, angles, camera and exposure used in each picture.

Regards,

Joe

Here is the same comparison including the older Noob version.
