No gens are an investment. Why put in $10k into a gen and wait 20+ years for it to appreciate if it even does. thats not very good investing at all. I can turn that $10k into probably $50k in less than 1 yr.

Gens you guy because you love it. I've owned heaps of gens now and bought most new. When you sell any modern gen you WILL lose money and a big chunk if its a watch > $30k. Even iconic watches like the Day Date will lose thousands on resell in any precious metal.

Reps are good but I would stick to Stainless Steel ones. Precious metal reps are nowhere near close and instant tell just on the shine/feel straight away. SS is very very close. Trust me when I say no-one can tell the difference between 904L steel and 316L steel.

I sold a Day Date 2 couple weeks ago and lost $7k on resell. And that was the best price I could get talking to over 20 second hand merchants.

Agreed regarding investing in gens but lmao @ turning 10k into 50k in one year. I don't even think Bernie Madoff made such ludicrous claims.

$10k into $50k is easy mate what do you mean?? - thats very achievable and not much money actually when putting into perspective of other businesses and their turnovers. I transformed $240k into $580k in 2 years in real estate and did it multiple times. How else you think I can afford gen Skydweller/DD40/116613LB and GMT2c Twin Tone and thats just my gen Rolex collection.

Thats like $130k AUD in watches in those 4 alone.

Love my gen Sub no date. But I also enjoy a few nice Franken reps almost as much.
A watch, like most other things, is only worth what you can get someone to pay for it

I get your point about transforming a $240k investment into $540k in 2 years but that's a 100% increase in 2 years under special circumstances. $10k into 50k is a 400% increase in 1 year. Not saying it's not possible but these are special circumstances. People like to remember the good investments and forget the bad. I'm sure you have money, I'm not doubting you, but if you could consistently turn those profits you would be a billionaire by now.

bold claim nonetheless but i think it's easier to turn 10K into 50K in 1 year than 240 into 580 in 2 years

I still disagree. I've got an online business as well reselling car spare parts for european/japanese sports cars. I've just went through last quarter balance sheet. My cost base for the last quarter has been $10,689. My turnover this quarter is $38,112.

So i've made $27,423 in 3 months just on my online business last qtr. I'm sure I could make this ALOT more if I didnt have a full time job, my real estate investments, my consultancy company along with the online business. If I was to focus on this online business i am more than 1000% sure I could do > $50k every quarter profit.

It just depends on the individual. If your savvy businessman and investor its easy to make money. If you are not then yes turning $10k into $50k might take you a long long time.

At the end of the day DO NOT buy watches as investments. LOL

Possessive

As a bit of a preface, i've owned dozens of GEN's and maybe 2 dozen REP's, AP's, Rolex's, Omega's, Cartier's on both ends. TC's on the REP side. Truth is, REP's just aren't as solid overall as GEN's at least until they turn into some serious franken watches at which point they're at 1/2 the price of the GEN and starting to use actual GEN pieces.

That being said, i've been out of the REP game for over a year now and I haven't had a V7 Noob Sub yet, but might take the dive (hehe). The last one I got - the V5, neither looked nor wore anything like my gen Sub-C, I got rid of it ASAP.

I think the little details in the gen's add up significantly. There are a few watches that do look very real though and wear much like the real thing, the AP Diver for one, and many of the PAM's since their cases don't have many parts or detailing to them. It's the complicated things like the link bracelets, or the jewelry-like detailing or Rolex's that make GEN's seem different from their REP counterparts (although like previously mentioned - this doesn't seem to be the case for the AP line).

You invested $ 240K and got $ 580K out.
So $ 340K left.
In my country we have to pay 30% of real estate "winnings" as taxes, so that would make here $ 238K left.
For a period of 2 years you would have doubled your investment....seems legit.

That said, I may should consider living somewhere else^^

If you are able to invest more, you could get out more.
If you have less or no money to invest, of course it won't shine like this.

Keep up the good work guys

I find this lost very dangerous and potentially expensive [emoji23]

I think that my next from the list might be one of the PAMs.

Sorry, but the number 25 (TH Aquaracer Calibre 5) is referred to the 500M ceramic version? Or the model with 43mm case and rubber bezel?

Thanks a lot.
