Of course lots of people say lots of things. I have been reading this kind of stuff for the 25 years I have been active collecting watches. It comes under the heading of BS and Hype. Try to go and sell all the 32 and 34 mm mens watches that were once so popular. In watches yes, there will be some weddings, but also a lot of funerals.

True of any investment. I stated this earlier about the financial markets. If everyone was winning, there would be no one losing. ;-)

its not so much that you will make money buying watches now (different story when the economy tanks), but more that they hold their value. You can go buy a used Sub for 5-6k right now, and in a few years, you will be able to sell that watch for the amount you paid, providing the economy doesnt take a dive.

I dont think you'll be able to do that with a rep.

Exactly. That's the point.

With a rep, you can loose max.400$. But yeah, I guess we are all right on this subject. Let's continue now with "the list of very good reps, almost gen-like". Would have been the better title for this thread.

Someone needs to add the updated list to the 1st post. would make this a whole lot easier to see what has and hasnt been noted so far.

Im about to pull the trigger on a few that i can compare to gens and hopefully add some to the list.

Look forward to the additions. But are we really into spoon feeding. I think it is better people read the thread.

Well theres an updated list on page 19 or 20 of 22. Its not spoon feeding when the entire premise of the thread is to compile a list of reps not worth buying in gen...

Hi Everyone, I made a quick chart of all the watches, the genuine price, replica price, premium, and functions.

Feel free to copy, use this graph, create a google docs spreadsheet, or do whatever you want. Hope this helps the community!

I lied, it was on page 15/22.

I am sorry I mis-read you. An update would be very helpful. I thought you wanted an update on the 1st post , as in an edit to add a list. I will go through the thread and make an up date in the next day or two.

I was just suggesting editing the 1st post to include the latest list. I know where to find that list in the thread, but people that havent been following have 850 posts to go through to figure out what the list would be.

Yes, that would be great so we wouldn't have to weed through 849 posts of peoples blabber and useless opinions.

Great thread! Rep or Gen, its about the appreciation of it at the end of the day. I can appreciate a rep for what it is and am willing to pay for it accordingly. If you're here to save money and maintain a certain image you've lost the plot already. I honestly came here looking to fool some people into believing I can afford a nice watch and got sucked into the abyss that is horticulture. No one cares if you have a 10K watch on your wrist, If that's what they care about then they shouldn't be in your life.

I have Omega AT V6F, its very beautiful..
The saphire is very clear..
But as long i can see, the exhibition back case wont be the same as gen..
since the reps using 8215..

As a bit of a preface, i've owned dozens of GEN's and maybe 2 dozen REP's, AP's, Rolex's, Omega's, Cartier's on both ends. TC's on the REP side. Truth is, REP's just aren't as solid overall as GEN's at least until they turn into some serious franken watches at which point they're at 1/2 the price of the GEN and starting to use actual GEN pieces.

That being said, i've been out of the REP game for over a year now and I haven't had a V7 Noob Sub yet, but might take the dive (hehe). The last one I got - the V5, neither looked nor wore anything like my gen Sub-C, I got rid of it ASAP.

I think the little details in the gen's add up significantly. There are a few watches that do look very real though and wear much like the real thing, the AP Diver for one, and many of the PAM's since their cases don't have many parts or detailing to them. It's the complicated things like the link bracelets, or the jewelry-like detailing or Rolex's that make GEN's seem different from their REP counterparts (although like previously mentioned - this doesn't seem to be the case for the AP line).

None of that current list, other than the TC old sub..which is why I might actually take the plunge on something like the new Noob v7 sub

but which rep watches in the list have you owned?
