I had few Rolex myself, my first one is the 2003 16610lv. I paid 35000 hk dollars which is around 4500 US dollars. After more than 13 years, the used market still going for over 6000 us dollars. The used market for Rolex is very strong and it's holding the value very well. I believe the only gen luxury watch that is would spend my money is only with a Rolex. I totally agree with Darkimplicates.

The LV is a bit of a special case. Try the same equation with a few others and you won't be in the same position. Even with that factor in the three services it should have had over that time and you are about even and haven't even covered inflation, on what is probably the best value keeper they have made in the last 20 years. Hardly an investment
In any case I buy watches I like. Not watches I might get my money back on. If I want the money I keep the money, or invest it. Just saying

omega make the best ones

I was going to sarcastically reply to your completely useless yet funny comment, but then realized you live in Asia and a lot can possibly be lost in translation and that might not have been your intent.

I know it's Omega brand my friend ;)

Thanks guys, I love this list and plan on acquiring a few from it including IWC. I've already ordered the JF V7 AP ROO Diver b/c of this thread and would like to add a Seamaster 300 once I'm clear on the best ones.

I guess this model is slightly more difficult to pin down, b/c with the AP for example there's basically one style of black dial Diver, whereas the Omega Seamaster has black or blue dials or even textured black/blue dials and then there's the vintage or newer style, so it's perhaps a little more complicated to pin down.

For me, any Gen that cost's more than a couple grand isn't worth buying. As much as I love watches the bottom line is that it's a watch!

If I won the lottery tomorrow I'd still buy Rep's because to me spending as much for a watch as an automobile cost's is just silly.

The reality is that a Quartz Timex will keep time just as well as a Rolex Day-Date Platinum Diamond Bezel!

This post reminded me to change my signature back to an old one I have had for years.

I feel the same way about cars. There is allot of American Muscle that will keep up with Ferrari for a fraction of the price. :sport_boxing:
