Will we ever see a dial like this on a rep?

The rep just came out and it feels a bit dead compared to the gen

I can't say it's a bad rep though

The Rep is 2mm too thick and has a commie DW. Looks ok otherwise

Btw ...i think v6 is on the left . Can you confirm [emoji6]
You're tricky. You have the crown coronet covered so we can't compare, and the hour hand in the cyclops so we can't compare.

Well I have a genuine Rolex Deepblue on my wrist and a latest copy DSSD in my hand. Winding is completely smoother. Can hear the rotor on rep. Bracelet very obvious. Back is different color. Should I go on Captain Assume? You really believe a rep and gen are not worlds apart in quality?? Sorry but it is simply true no matter what you keep telling yourself.
One is $6000. One is $350. Be glad that for a 95% savings it's so dang close.
Reps are pretty to look at, they keep good time, and you can buy 10-20 of them for the price of one Rollie.
What's better, when they break, you can tear them apart and learn watch repair. Learn the intricacies of horology.
I personally find it fun to source the best parts available to make mine as indistinguishable as humanly possible.
Ask Johnnylazar if I'm not as anal as they come. I'm just not a d*ck about it. But the pursuit of perfection gives me great pleasure

?????? best post ever! I'm OCD too. Badly! But I like my money more...
I'll take an "inaccuracy" or two to save $5000 on a dive watch that I'm never going to even get in water with.
If it's for fashion, what's the point of spending multiple grand on a 600meter dive watch anyway?
For diving I can understand. For just wearing I can not.
Also,
I try looking at replicas more as exacting homages to the original. That way, my OCD can take a break when i see "differences" between the two. Lol

OCD is massively prominent in watch collecting. I am a sufferer myself, well actually my wife is the sufferer, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Agree with Dr. Mike's post, very well said.

Just a comment regarding Rolex steel - it is a superior metal because it accepts finishing and polishing to a much better degree than ordinary steel. Also the finish and polishing processes Rolex uses are proprietary, not found elsewhere.

No one including Grand Seiko, who use Zaratsu techniques, exceeds the lustre capacity of 316L Rolex don't even come near the polish on Grande Seiko and they use 316L
It is hype and mythology.

Just a thought on the inverse of this thread, that is to say "Not worth buying in Rep"

I think the Daytona should be top of this list. It is so crying out for a rep which is the right thickness and has working chronos.

I think it would be the best selling rep on the planet.

The movement is the issue. The rep world doesn't have a thin enough movement to replicate the complications of the Daytona. Don't hold your breath. The rolex sub will always be the best selling watch in th replica world

We can dream of a 1:1 thickness daytona with working chronos that is reliable. I doubt that this will be a reality anytime soon. Even if the mythical super asian clone movement comes out, I can not even begin to imagine the reliability issues for the first few years, I base this on the initial release of the SA3135 and how poor the reliability was.

This would be very easy to do with a microstepper quartz for the main movement and a tiny, sweeping, secondary quartz movement/engine with tiny battery just for the seconds at six. As the only thing, the secondary movement does, is to show the seconds it is high geared and constantly sweeps. I had this once on a $6 pocketwatch, that came with a magazine, and always wondered how the seconds at six would sweep on a quartz watch until after a year the seconds stopped and I opened it up to see that small 10mm square and 2,5mm thick movement directly connected to the secs at six. New small battery just for the seconds and all was back to normal.

Of course the only thing available is the fat 7750. However it only needs someone in Japan or China to make a thin Chrono module like Dubois Depraz or indeed a thin enough Chrono movement . Then we have it.

Learn something new every day here...I knew about the VK microstepper, but I always thought we would be doomed to have a ticking seconds hand. Now I wonder even more so why not...I'd gladly buy a quartz daytona with a setup like that...also would save me a spot on the winder.

40mm is not so small. I still sometimes wear this Piaget at only 34mm

5432292434_723d53e6ab_b.jpg

And my wrist is big enough to be comfortable with these bigger watches

It's just a different look
I feel better with 34 or 36mm one Gen one Rep

I would never buy a gen Seawolf. This watch is exactly lile the gen except it has been built in China and the movement doesnt have Cal. Colt 17 stamped on it
