I've experienced this when a new version first arrives as they attempt to clear out the dead stock, but I'm very surprised to see such an anachronistic dial in a version that's been around 7+ months.

The bottom one is the original release for the v3 mate. The one above is an updated black dial with the correct sized subs but slightly too shiny. Hopefully when you reject this one you’ll get the dial above again.

red1 thanks for your knowledge.
So theoretically we have a black V3s. Or V4shinyshortSEL. And the white dial is moving backwards, so V3minus1. They make it so easy...

Now on to V2t SMP thread to see if they release a titanium bracelet and piss off all the people that just bought a V1 or V2 a day apart, then I'll try to figure out what the hell is V2 about the 15202 on TSwatch.

My TD is contacting the factory, as he was not aware of any dial changes since V2.2, just the bezel & casekit improvements to V3. This thread tells a different tale. Keeps one on their toes to track the incessant changes, like Jtime with the ZZF subs.

'One small step for man, one giant leap backward for watchkind.'

Jesus Christ. If those are slim, I'm glad I don't have a black dial.

The clasp did improve though.

yeah mate, they are slim and very very close to Gen. Were you expecting even thinner subdials?

I was yes. Ive seen thinner ones at my watchsmith. Maybe those were arf I don't know.

On gen the numbers are almost touching the border.
i guess it depends on the angle, third pic looks better than first.

Mate there are many variations in Gen Dials, thats why in your example we see the numbers closer to the outer rim of subdials.

However, the width of the subdials is fine and at par with Gen in the last variation of V3 dials, like
yakuuu example. You get thinner subdials than this in Zenith Daytonas and very early years 4130 Daytonas, not in later years 116520s and ceramic Daytonas. cheers!!!

As shown in this picture, the V3 Noob shown above has the thinner Sub-dials that are about the same thickness as a Gen 116500.

- If you get the right one, Noob finally has the Sub-dial thickness correct on both the Black and White 116500 dials, But the Silver Sub-dials on the Black dial are still much Shinier than a Gen.
- The Quality of the Black ARF Dial is still better than the Noob overall, but the thickness of the ARF Sub-dials are slightly thicker than a Gen on the Black dials.

The 116500 black sub dials will look visually different depending on lighting and angle. The subdials on the 116500 black have a very think (but shiny) layer of paint on the inner and outer edge of the sub dials. If light hits that paint at a certian angle, the sub dials will look a tad more thicker. Hard to capture in photos, but you can look at the dials in hand (ARF has produced this effect better than Noob and is closer to the gen dial effect)

Anyway, coming back to the earlier posts, all the Black Noob v3 QCs (post Covid) seem to have the thinner sub dials.

+1. Spot on comparison. In hand, Noob v3 black sub dials are way too shiny and a bit harsh sun burst.

I wished I had read this thread. I accidentally accepted a fat black subdial from @supermirror (Sead) with his UK stock, I'm so guttered now!

Don’t feel bad, happens!! That watch is worth the money just for the movement alone. You can buy another one and list the parts for sale individually. Depending on timing, you will probably recoup majority of the cost.

Or put an ARF dial. In the end you will get a visually better looking Daytona.

Or look for aftermarket ones on eBay.

Thanks.. That's what I will do. I might be doing an albino project so this watch could be the donor for the case, movement and bracelet.
