If you are just worried about the movement reliability, you could just use it til it breaks, then switch it to an ICHS movement/hands. $60 for DG3804, $125 for 2836 ICHS. That makes a lot more sense to me than spending $1500 on a Yuki mod 3186 or $3K on a gen 3186 for an otherwise stock rep. But we all have our preferences and pocket sizes to meet them, sometimes. I've spent way too much in directions I wouldn't go again.

Hey smoke. I agree, this is the best one yet. Hers some quick and dirty pics first night I received it with Jubilee. The rehaut alignment was off but I rotated the dial slightly now and it’s pretty centered.

How do peeps feel about the crystal height and the rehaut engravement on the Noob?
People always mention the crystal height on the GMF BLNR. It seems about the same on mine.

same question that why people keep complain about xtal height of GMF but see, ok with noob with my untrained eye both of them seem high and refer to comment below it only 0.2mm and i dont think we can tell different with 0.2mm gap

One reason the crystal sits higher on the GMF is they are still using 2.0mm thickness crystals instead of 1.8mm.

The Noob rehaut engraving is the best there is in the rep game, IMO

The thicker crystal is only one reason it sits higher on a GMF. They use a taller gasket also. Here's a comparison to my Noob V8 Batman.

Maybe it's all lighting and angles and less-than-eagle-eyed vision, but to me my GMF looks better than KJ2020's GMF and closer to m5smg2's Noob in regards to crystal height, and KJ2020's Noob looks better than m5smg2's Noob ....

Yeah it's actually a very noticeable difference, from a good distance too. That GMF crystal sits like a skyscraper, to quote down_under

I was gonna say "not in real life where you don't have the picture blown up x 50 no you don't" but I guess depending on the angle you do see it. I still think you have to know it's there and doubt that anyone except for forum members would call you out on it

Very fair point indeed! If anyone even had the slightest inclination to check, they would see the insert/datewheel first. That's the most noticeable. Then the dial, then smaller details.

But forum members are a few thousand out of billions of people. That's about .000001% lol!

Your watch is gorgeous mate!

Thanks Jiro. And I’m sorry...I think? Lol

Here’s another

Hi mate

Top watch and I can’t wait for mine - it’s taking even longer because of this week’s Chinese holidays. Placed the order on Trusty on Monday (after reading this thread) and no QC pics yet.

Damn bro I’m nervous about the movement. Have you jumped your hour hand both ways or only clock wise?

I read somewhere that the spring in these later GMT’s has been upgraded to a thicker spring. Does any one know or care to comment?

True, I've been wondering whether the new noob has stronger springs. Worth looking into. This should be dissected by a professional and commented upon.

IF the spring ends up being strong, then the watch will no longer be a time bomb (correct me if I am wrong lads)

THUS the price increase would be somewhat acceptable, because it would be the first working non-time grenade CHS

Ive had a CHS gmt for over a year and if your just follow the recommended procedure to set the time I have NEVER had any issues
just remember to turn the crown counter clockwise which will move the hour hand forward ,and your good ...
just look at this sticky
https://forum.replica-watch.info/for...a3186-movement

There are a lot of reports of people having CHS fails in spite of adhering to the instructions on the various GMTII threads and the dedicated CHS fail thread where KJ2020 and others are discussing the minute details on why the CHS movements fai-well above my head but interesting nonetheless.
For the $$ I would not go with a CHS with this watch, $600 plus is a lot to spend on a paper weight. I made the ICHS choice when I ordered my GMF GMTII BLNR
KJ2020 actually has a thread up where he mentions the recently released BP GMTIIs which have a low beat CHS movement and which retails for $278. Now for that price point I would come on board.

Thanks, I am happy with it. It's working hard keeping time in three timezones!

A couple of us are working on a repair to 2824 CHS movements. The repair would keep the correct hand stack but would lose the independent GMT hand. Welcome back to the old days, where you use your bezel for a second time zone! One could achieve a 3rd time zone with this repair if desired by manually setting the GMT hand to GMT time when pressing the hands. Then the GMT offset would be permanent unless you press the hands again. The good news is that also with this repair you can regain the quickset date feature. I just completed a really minor mainplate mod that allows for that feature to be restored. AFAIK, there is no upgrade to new CHS movements, and I've read about people breaking theirs within days of receiving them. So treat them with kid gloves and NEVER use crown position 2 unless absolutely necessary, and then ONLY anti-clockwise to move the hour hand forward.

Oh you are by no means the only one and in fact I probably have seen more reports like yours of people having no problems than people who do. It is just that I did not want any trouble from my first and so far only GMT so I ordered a ICHS with the solid ETA clone as I also did not want to have to treat the movement with silk gloves. If I were to order any others I might well go the CHS route.
I am interested in the longevity of the low-beat CHS movement.
KJ2020 also mentioned in one of his threads that if or when the CHS fails you can replace it with a ICHS pretty cheaply.

I’m also one of the “lucky” ones. I had 5 Noob CHS. All solid. Still, we know it can’t match the stability of the ICHS. And yet Noob is only offering CHS from now on. Go figure.
