In the past two months I have been studying both Genuine and Replica watches to try and learn more about the Rolex Daytonas.
There have been many posts with different opinions and different photos showing the problems specifically with Noobs Daytona Dials.
I think the problem is that the Four SS Daytonas all use different dials, and Noob has different problems with each of them. Some more than others.
Because people continue to ask about these problems, I would like to consolidate and illustrate what I have learned
all in one place to try and help settle some of the confusion.
All of these problems or issues would apply to the Noob 904L V2 Daytona releases.
The Genuine SS Bezel 116520 Daytona was produced from 2000 to 2016. It was discontinued in 2016 and replaced with the Ceramic Bezel 116500.
- The Gen 116520 used the same Font for the ROLEX name and for all of the words in the four lines below the name for both the Black and White dials.
- The Gen 116520 used the same size sub-dials in Silver for both the Black and White dials.
- The New Gen 116500 uses a narrower Font for the ROLEX name and for all of the words in the four lines below the name and it is the same Font for both the Black and White dials.
- The New Gen 116500 used the same size sub-dials in a less shinny Silver for the Black dial and Black sub-dials for the White dials.
And now the illustrations for each Noob SS Daytona Dial...
- 116520 White Dial - Many people say that this is Noobs best Daytona as it only has one minor flaw.
The size and color of the sub-dials is correct, but Noob uses the narrower Font from the newer Gen 116500 for the ROLEX name and for all of the words in the four lines below the name.
So Noob is using a Gen ROLEX Daytona Font, but it is not the correct font for this dial as shown below...
- The 116500 White Dial - This seems to be a very popular Daytona from all the owner's photos that I have seen. It also has only has one different flaw.
The narrower Font for the ROLEX name and for all of the words in the four lines below the name is correct, but the size of the Black sub-dials is just a little too wide.
I think these Daytonas look really good in the owner's photos and the different size of the sub-dial appears to be less obvious than the Black dials...
- The 116520 Black Dial - The Black Daytona dials are more of a disappointment as they have more flaws that are more obvious. AND Noob uses
the same Black dial for both the 116520 and the 116500.
The narrower Font for the ROLEX name and for all of the words in the four lines below the name is not correct, and the size of the Silver sub-dials is really too wide.
Again, Noob is using a Gen ROLEX Daytona Font, but it is not the correct font for this 116520 dial. Also the contrast of the Silver sub-dials on the Black dial makes the larger size
very obvious to see.
- The 116500 Black Dial - This Black Daytona dial is also a disappointment as it also has more flaws that are more obvious. Again, Noob uses
the same Black dial for both the 116520 and the 116500.
The narrower Font for the ROLEX name and for all of the words in the four lines below the name is correct, but the size of the Silver sub-dials is really too wide and the Silver color is way too shinny.
The contrast of the overly shinny Silver sub-dials on the Black dial makes the larger size
very obvious to see.
