The advantage of shaving is gen size of case and you only see the facet out of the crystal. Hard to see on the pictures

Thanks. I haven't had an ARF taken apart, but what is the thickness of that gasket vs what you shave it down to? Would it be as effective to just buy a thinner gasket? I just ask because I would worry about water resistance if the gasket isn't shaved perfectly square

*Edit* nevermind just saw your other post, thanks guru

I used the ARF crystal on my 116520 franken because it has single AR on the inside and that looks better on a black dial. My 116500 has standart noob crystal. All gaskets are shaved. You also could buy a 2.3 mm clark gasket.

Shaving the gasket is easy, just put it in the bezel, have the material which you want to shave look out of the bezel and then use a sharp nife to cut it.

here is the 116520 with ARF crystal

You are better off using the noob gasket because an aftermarkt gasket could be a just a little thicker, .1 or .2 mm and when you mount the ceramic bezel, the bezel could crack easy. With the noob / arf gasket you do not have that problem. They are soft.

I have read a many hundred pages on the Noob Daytonas over the past month to three. I have in my possession a fine example of the white dial one. Very happy with it, working chrono, at least 60h power reserve, swapped to a neat black alligator strap and all, but the only issue I have with it is it runs something like +15-20s/d. I clearly remember somebody had posted a picture of the watch with caseback removed with arrows which showed which lever to move which ways to do some finer regulation. If somebody remembers that post, would that person kindly post a link to it? Many thanks.

+15-20s/d.

What do you mean? one day +15, next day -20? Or depending how you lay it down? If the delta is this big, then you need a service. If you force it more to minus, the delta will be the same!

Both my arf duo measure 12.70 in thickness. Although I'd love to hybrid noob and arf. Don't think my watchsmith here is keen to take that risk of shaving dials .

guru would you consider offering that shaved dial to members.. lol

Arf dial , bracelet, bezel and crystal on noob is just bang for buck .....this is something I'd bet very keen on.

Read all 755 posts on this thread and I am totally convinced that the noob 904l 116520-white dial is the best of the bunch at this point in time. I will be purchasing mine this weekend.

Could you guys advise what mods are *necessary* to make this specific Daytona a super rep? after reading, I was thinking gen dial, gen hands, gen xtal? Can any of you confirm... or is this overkill. I don't want to overspend if the watch is good "enough". Thanks in advance guys! :)

THIS! I am exactly on the same boat and want to know what mods are necessary without unnecessarily overspending. Defo the noob 904L but maybe not the 116520 but rather the 116500

good choice, 116520 white 904 has better clasp, SEL ond most important, a better bezel!

Gen white dial goes for about 700 euro, hands for about 300 euro.
That is what I would do. With the gen crystal there is no big difference, so I would skip that. I have 1 but you do not see the difference. Important is the crystal modd which is easy to do.

Meant it runs fast 15 to 20 s/d. I dont have my timegrapher here, and the flaky hairspring app is too jittery. I know it is the app and not t he watch, from past experience comparing against the timegrapher.

Many thanks to M Scott and mui.richard - I have copied the image and will reference it when I get to regulating the daytona next week.
