Messing is the right word. In general, I hate when the intentions aren't clear, this moving from one size to the next and then going back, but then, hey, wait a minute, go again big after all... There's no clear vision of what the explorer is and they're clearly just following market demand in spite of tradition.
That said, I have the 39 and I do love it. Remains to see if "40" is really 40, Rolex always has its own way of measuring.

They are keeping the 36 in production along with the new 40. I think it makes sense since many complained when the 39 was discontinued, but the 36 got a lot of fans. Personally I'm looking forward to a good rep of the 40mm.

but with skinnier subdials and markers, the white dial itself will seem a little bigger / roomier.

I don't disagree. It just irritates me that they don't draw a clear line because they're convinced of their own tradition but instead just answer market demand. Which is natural in principle for any business, but if there's one business who could afford to not care less it's Rolex.

April is Autism Awareness month. Watches and Wonder 2023 is from March 27th to April 2nd. This Day-Date is simply to raise awareness and support for the Autism Foundation.

It is an off-brochure model, and can not be ordered. I don't know why so many people are making such a big deal about it. It's for a good cause.
