I think they are pushing the size. I would like to put one on my wrist- but I think they are messing with one of the great points of that watch- its proportions.
Messing is the right word. In general, I hate when the intentions aren't clear, this moving from one size to the next and then going back, but then, hey, wait a minute, go again big after all... There's no clear vision of what the explorer is and they're clearly just following market demand in spite of tradition.
That said, I have the 39 and I do love it. Remains to see if "40" is really 40, Rolex always has its own way of measuring.

I don't want to say I am disappointed, as I wasn't expecting much. TBH, I see a real lack of vision on these new pieces. I don't see anything to get excited about or even call my AD about. As a Daytona lover, I feel there has been a real disservice to those new ones. To me, they look like cheap knock-offs.

Snap! Really is a shame because there are so many interesting avenues they could take the Daytona but as with every recent release they've fell on the tried and tested "make the case slightly larger and small changes nobody asked for" route.

Admittedly I do like some of the changes on the panda but its just the same watch really.... Ironically an hour ago I shown my boss the new Panda (as he was wearing his gen today) and he couldn't spot any of the differences until I pointed them out. I guess that's how Rolex have established themselves as one of the biggest brands outs there though, evolution vs revolution as they say 🤔

This release was a dud. I mean minor tweaks here and there to existing lines but only one true new build. That being said the 1908 is an odd duck. It skirts the line between classic oysters and modern Cellini models…..which seem to have disappeared from the site. I am wondering if the 1908 is now their only “dress” model.

And by the way, any Info on what will be discontinued? Usually happens silently, simply disappearing from the website...

noob v2 daytonas are the inspiration for the new daytona subdials. now who's talking about subdials being too thin?!
That made me laugh because many folks are so concerned with the thickness of sub-dials only for it to be the new norm. Bigger, Smaller, Bigger, Smaller... This is the way, says the Mandalorian. This is a lesson to all the noobs who think they need a rep close to gen. Which one do I ask? 1963, 67, 78, 88, 00, 13, 16, 18, 23, blah blah blah, lol. The guy wearing the gen can't tell the difference and you think your friends can? Just pick one that is close and roll with it.

Of course they would have to re-release a YG GMT. Eventually like the SS Pepsi it will come with oyster too. CLEAN will be all over this.

A must buy for GMT lovers with the new DD3285. The gold model name on the dial and gold GMT hand are nice touches.
