Serviced when received (with SBmoon disk upgrade) about a year ago. Keyless (as others have also stated) is the weak point of the movement and has a rotor mechanism that doesn’t really recharge the watch. It is back at the watchmaker as started to work erratically (loosing 8min/day) which a quick demagnetisation didn’t fix

Which version do you have ? I have the ppf v1 and indeed I feel the movement is not automatic at all : despite wearing it all day , if I don’t wind it manually every 24h , it stops …

Hello,
I'm about to order the latest 5712 from one of the TDs. However, they told me they can not provide any warranty for this model since "the movement is very easy to break due to it has many functions".
This made me put this on hold. I know this is a Rep. watch and do not expect a warranty or send the watch back to China anyway. I'm not planning to wear it everyday, may be once a month.
I've been using DD3285 and DD4130 and they are very accurate and great power reserve. If I remember correctly, this 5712 movement (240) is also designed by Dan Dong ? I was expecting this fun stuff should last for a while. If it's really broken, it could be very difficult to find the local watchmaker to fix it.
Does anyone has any bad experience about this movement ?
Thanks,

As you don't care to read the thread (who could blame you?), here's how Chatgpt summarized the 146 pages regarding the movement reliability in this thread:

The PPF 5712 with the PP240 super clone movement has garnered attention for its detailed replication of the original Patek Philippe design. However, users have reported several reliability concerns:

  • Keyless Mechanism Issues: The keyless works, responsible for time-setting and winding, are identified as a weak point. Users have experienced increased resistance and grittiness over time, suggesting potential wear and the risk of failure.
  • Replica Watch Forum
  • Automatic Winding Inefficiency: The rotor mechanism, which powers the automatic winding, is often described as ineffective. Some users note that the rotor doesn't sufficiently recharge the watch, leading to power reserve depletion even during regular wear.
  • Replica Watch Forum
  • Timekeeping Inconsistencies: Instances of erratic timekeeping have been reported, with watches losing significant time daily. Standard remedies, such as demagnetization, have not resolved these issues, indicating deeper mechanical problems.
In summary, while the PPF 5712 with the PP240 super clone movement offers an aesthetically pleasing replica, its mechanical reliability is questionable. Potential buyers should be aware of these issues and consider them when making a purchase decision.

Fixed datewheel printing with very similar color to the current SW dial, seems like very little downside moving to this dial. A good W for 5712 modding. Anyone know when this is available? Guess Ill have to figure out how to contact HB

Not perfect, but definitely seems like the best dial currently available. Datewheel font size, thickness and spacing are definitely improved. Might just be the photos, but the subdial hands look a touch thinner and more gen-like as well - see the photos below. As grillbrill mentioned, Hillbillywatch is on Telegram, easy to find him there, he's pretty responsive. I just ordered the HB dial, it cost 2700 CNY / $380 USD (not including shipping) and took 2 days to get to QC.

Excellent summary! 👊

One of the reasons I ask periodically our TDs if there is any update / upgrade to the movement. Especially the keyless is doesn’t seem difficult to fix (why make it out of cheese is beyond me) neither is the rotor….

Rotor I understand, making it out of a heavier material just seems like alot of work (it's either tungsten or lead, neither of which seem great)

But the keyless is probably the most frustating. I'm very gentle with my 5712 and every time I pop it out to set the time it feels... weird.... and mines has been serviced

I will enjoy my 5712 until it's demise but I probably won't get another one.

And mind you, I only wear this watch like once a month lol.

I had my PPF for less than a month before it just stopped running. It's off being looked at right now, but for one of the most expensive reps I've got, it was pretty disappointing.

I've said it multiple times but the bare minimum for this model is a service. It's one of the few watches as a replica I insist on a servicing before wearing. I don't say that about many models but yeah.

I am in the same boat. This is the last time it goes to the watchmaker. Movement has to be fully disassembled, cleaned, checked and it is a £200 bill.

I won’t buy another one until this movement is upgraded. I don’t mind the rotor to be honest. As you perfectly said above, it is the keyless and the fragility which are concerning.

Edit: and as far as I know, individual parts are still not available for this movement? The question is why?

Reps are all about patience! 🤣 (yes 67-02, I am looking at you but you aren’t ready for me 😉)

Yeah, this was a fancier "modded" model from Chazingtime, but having to lump a service cost on top of the cost of this thing may have pushed it past what I was super interested on spending on it.
