I've now owned 2 5712 V2's, and spoken in length with MajorWilliams on the topic of the reliability. Overall reliability is good, BUT, that clutch wheel will continue to be a fragile point within the movement. Time setting needs to be done delicately, while servicing the movement helps (especially when greasing the keyless correctly) and can help stave off some of the delicateness of the clutch wheel- you should still time set delicately. The gen part is $250 which for such a small piece is rather ridiculous. Whether or not the free sprung movement uses the same clutch wheel or not is the biggest thing in terms of reliability.

This is good to know. Being a watchmaker, I was tempted to investigate and do the repair; but being just a month old, not wanting to source parts, and my TD willing to work with me on a warranty repair... I ended up sending it back. If it happens again, I'm curious to try replacing the clutch wheel with a gen, but would also probably want to replace the winding pinion and maybe even the intermediate wheel out of caution of the gen part's possible hardness causing wear/friction on potentially softer rep interfaces. Of course, that is all assuming interchangeability between gen & rep parts.

I've had a V2 for 15 months. It's on a winder when not worn and I wind it daily to keep it powered up. I've had no issue with the keyless, movement, jumping hands or anything else. If I have a complaint it's that it loses a few seconds a day but that's just an issue with regulating. For me this movement is much better than the Hangzhou 5000a movement in the V1.
You got lucky, enjoy it. Rep tolerances means that a watch with a few hundred parts will not perform the same from batch to batch and even watch to watch.

This is what many other watchmakers have to do, price of gen is just kind of steep so most see value in just sending the movement back. You can look at CTime post of the gen vs rep 240 and look at the clutch, the teeth are pretty pointed where the gen is more rounded but not enough to cause to slip (obviously). Basically it’s so pointed the ends make it a rather easy point of failure unfortunately

@jmachina

Credit to Ctime obviously. Here’s the thread you might find interesting if you haven’t looked through it.

Yeah those are completely different. It would probably be easier to turn my own than make the gen work 🤣

If anyone could give me some tips on trying to get stubborn pins out of the bracelet, please let me know. Which way am I supposed to push the pins through if I am holding it (let's say) up right in your hand like in the pic. The left side -> pull out the right side or vice versa?? Thanks in advance, I didn't have this much problem with my 5711 OR my 5726! ): dying to wear it but I'll set it in the box till Monday so I can get it sized at my other place for super high because the guy taxes me bc it's a rep (20-25$ to size it lol)
