@vince23 , the 16570 did actually use both. Earlier models with drilled lugs had the folded type end link while the later models without went sel. I don’t think it would be a solid fit though in this case. I tried out my bracelet from a 214270 on my 16710 and it wasn’t a solid fit. @KJ2020 would likely know best but thought I would share my findings.

I had problems with fitting the SEL’s of a couple of different bracelets, both gen and rep. Put on a gen bracelet from my 16700 with hollow end links adding the Explorer I clasp and it fits great, I love it.

I just brushed the PC.

Gonna take advantage of that question, does this look like a genuine engraving?

I am still not sure which bracelet to get for the case.
vintage BP, raffles or even italian?

or modern with easylink from the exp39...

somehow nothing will fit perfectly? so go the nato way? :D

A leather strap always looks great also.

But if you want to tinker around with different springbars and carefully placed bracelet tape strips, you can create a decent fit.

Some info here

This is super interesting reading and a lot of useful info. Did anyone here had a chance to compare this new "German ebay" case with Viet 16710 cases? (they usually come as a full set with caseback, customer engravings, bezel, insert, crystal, tube, crown for the cost $750+). So the question is rather how the mid case and caseback compare between this ebay one and the viet version.
Hi, I was just wondering if you have heard ant thing on the German case? I'm look at the same case for a project and I'm still unsure weather to pull the trigger and just buy it.

Hey gents, bought a slightly beat up (totally fine with that) gen 16570 case and datewheel. Serial checks out to an early 90s watch, but the engraving isn’t on a perfectly straight line. However my gen Datejust case looks similar to this.

Any chance you could take a look and help me confirm that it’s genuine? Thanks for your input!

Some additional pics here:

That's a gen case bro. Looks like it had some water corrosion damage repaired with some filler like epoxy. Still a hole or two showing but won't be noticeable.

N serial dates it to 1991. Datewheel looks gen but not period correct for that year. However it could be a service replacement. Its issue DW would have had wider font numerals with more serifs like the one on the left below.

I know a lot of us would be itching to tweak this one up a bit. Restoring a case has become a real passion for me. But if you're happy with it as is there's a lot to be said for that too. You might want to flood fill the bezel markers with a mix of Testor's flat black and thinner at least. A mini facelift can do wonders for an old soldier like this.

Thanks so much for your reply! This is such great info.

So a correct datewheel would be a akin to one found in a 3135?

Both the ones in the pic I posted are correct for 3135 / 3155 / 3175 / 3185, the one you have is just the modern font.

Within the same subject. Is this the periodcorrect dw for an luminova 16710 with a no ar/lec crystal? Is it even gen?

Yes that's correct for the period you specified.

It looks gen, but I stop short of saying absolutely yes with most pics, because the clarity isn't there. And because there are some really good aftermarket datewheels. We should always buy the seller first - use a trusted vendor or member here. Buy in a sealed blister if you want to be absolutely certain.

Most rep factory DWs will have an unprinted silver ring on the outer perimeter, that's one sure way to tell it's NOT gen

Rafflesdials 3135 DWs are really good. And no silver ring on the perimeter.

I've even been shaving off the teeth and using them as DWOs because they are even better than the Raffles DWOs. Look at that embossed printing! They are good enough to make buying a gen DW unnecessary IMO.

I bought impulsively on ebay because it was at a relatively good price, the seller had loads of used parts from all kinds of brands and had an 100% positive feedback since away back .

Impulsive buying, the trait of an intelligent man.
