Appreciate all of the notes and updates - I've been eyeing these for a while. The repainted bezels look great.

That's pretty damn good huh?

I just wish the rep bakelite inserts weren't lumed. No gen would have any lume left anyway and it gives the rep insert markers a horribly ugly puke green color in daylight. Off white or mild yellow patina would be miles better, real shame.

Ditto.. I’d almost want to change mine for a flat 1675 bezel. That green is not a good look.

An insert like this would be perfect.

An idea would be to varnish with yellowed nitrocellulosic lacquer on top of the insert, and then shine it. It would give that vintage yellow tint to the lume, but also to the bakelite/plastic.

Another idea would be to file off the lume material from underneath and refill with desired lume color.

Wasn't someone over at TCLKC making obscenely expensive but perfect inserts?

I was thinking of trying this.. Is it exposed when you remove the paint covering them?

I don't think there's any easy way to get to the lume from above. I sanded quite a bit of the clear plastic off the top of my insert, probably more than 2/3 of it. It looks like the clear was just molded over the lume markers so maybe you could remove the paint from below and find a chemical that would dissolve the lume out while leaving the clear plastic moldings intact. Then refill the marker moldings with a preferred color lume, then repaint the bottom of the clear plastic.

“Joey B” at our sister site made some, and started to use lexan material as well for the second batch. I can’t say if he still does or not.
Im not familiar with the acronym TCLKC - what is it? Pm it to me if we are not supposed to spell it out.
