This! I would love to know whether anyone has modded endlinks so they fit better, and if so - which ones?

Glad I’m not the only one. I have seen gens with the endlinks like ours, but, I don’t like it.

Yesterday I went through my loose endlinks box, and found a set of 580 endlinks that looked slightly flatter in profile than the others (I think I might have already given these a try some time ago). I've fitted them and they don't look too bad - as you say mclarendude, some photos of gens on bracelets do show quite a gap.

The watch came with 382 links - comparing the two, the 382s are quite a bit shorter than the 580s and leave a bigger gap to the ends of the lugs. But the other 580 endlinks in my spares box are all quite tall in profile and the fit on the 6542 is bad.

I'll post some pics tonight - I'm back at work today (boo!) and wearing a 16610. :)

I had a pair of cheap 580's too laying around (one of them with a springbar loop broken) and it seems to be a slightly better fit. I might be ordering a new rivet bracelet at some point so I hope the endlinks on that will fit it better.

Looking forward to your pics!

Did some small watchmaking today.

The seconds hand kept getting stuck to the hour hand exactly at 4:55 am each morning. Fixed that.

Inspected the crown and the stem is fine, it seems the crown itself is the issue. It seems it gets stuck in the stowed position when unscrewed. Lubed it a bit, stayed the same. Will revisit that tomorrow while I re-do the DWO.

Well I’m wearing one of my 6542s on a rivet bracelet now, but the 580 end links don’t fit very well length-wise. But as I mentioned before mclarendude, they’re a little better than the supplied endlinks!

The stock crowns on these are poo.

A nice used gen is a worthy upgrade

Yummy.

Need a whole new tube too? What part numbers?

The stock tube will work, the threads are correct. I just needed to file a mm or so off the front end so the gen crown fit flush to the case. Crown is 6mm twinlock 24-600.
