I'll gladly pay a mark up with English speaking r/repladies TDs to get a nice LV bag for the missus, so I don't have to go through the whole agent thingie.

Yes, I could save a few $, but I'm lazy...

I view our TDs the same way: A super comfortable short-cut alternative at a mark-up, but with direct shipping and English speaking support.

And the best thing is that if you're an RWI member, at the time of the order, you get RWI's backing and assistance.

If one is willing to take the risks, there are sellers in Guangzhou who are English speaking, with direct shipping - quick responses (<24hr), prices consistently between 25-35% cheaper than TDs - some even offer insurance at a small premium (6%? still a big chunk of change saved). But we have our blinkers on.. To some people it is simple inconceivable that there could be better options out there. How often do watches get seized in reality? The money saved on 4-5 reps is probably more than enough to cover a replacement, and after that time you are quids in.

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy from TDs.

Buy wherever you want, it's your money & we are all grown ups capable of assessing the risk v reward based on our own criteria.

Are there other options out there, of course, but I myself am risk averse for the most part, so I would rather pay a little premium for a safe purchase than gamble the 100% on a 'maybe risky' one.

The reality here is that we are all likely implicated in the increasing frequency of the raids. Socials media has just made it a whole lot easier to track momentum, detail and proof of how big the rep market is and who the main players are. The way we dissect rep watches on line and the amount of detail available on movements/ factories and dealers makes it ampuecw of piss for the authorities to gauge on where the rep space is at. The bigger it gets the bigger the ire of the genuine factories and the bigger the pressure they exert on their local govts ro pressure the Chinese stakeholders ro shut it all down…… which of course is impossible hence we see the frequency of raids increasing to show a potential effort towards some sort of compliance and accountability by the authorities to act.

The sure thing here is at the other side of all this we may very likely see price hikes yet again.

One doesn't need to source their reps from the same place to share the hobby, do they? I've used TD, non td, m2m. Each with their pros and cons. People should be able to make informed decisions - as they do with the reps themselves.

It seems we are all saying the same thing after all. We are all adults (hopefully ) and we make our own decisions. As in life, everyone have their mindsets and their own circumstances.

Order it trough an agent like basetao or pandabuy, that way you cannot get bait and switched, and you get second qc from the agent + option for insurance. Most of these non TD sellers have 1688 shops to order from.

He seems to have good reputation. I paid a premium for less risk for me. That seems fair.

I bought a PAM from his EU stock in Italy last month. Movement went dead after a month. Now it's back in Italy for repair. With a non-TD from China, I'd have saved $100 and have a nice looking paper weight now.

And can you explain how this method of boxing around the markers is more accurate than a line in between? With the line you just check if it enters the marker in the center and leaves trough the center.

Seems to give very extreme results When using your accurate method.

Have you thought of making a separate sub forum for stuff like this? I could see it getting a little out of hand if you added streetwear because all the Reddit kids would come over.

I think it would be nice though to see the various factories available for things like bags. Or is it best to see what’s out there via Reddit and then message MReplica?

My girlfriend/so doesn’t really use purses, but I’m sure my mom would love a rep bag or two (she used to buy them from a friend who’d import them in NY back in the early 2000s).

Don’t draw it straight through from one marker, because you’re not actually drawing it straight. The watch is tilted to the left, so we can’t use a single marker as reference for what’s straight. Connect both markers to each other, and then look at the angle difference between them.

Straight or slightly off, it wouldn't result in much difference like on the QC of the date just.

Point is you said this was the only accurate way to do things, then said it's still not accurate because the watch is not perfectly straight, and when i demonstrate that it doesn't make a difference and proof it with my seiko which has an extreme angle, you say the lines are not straight.

Even with dead accurate straight lines you wouldn't find the differences I found on the Rolex, so the angle of the watch doesn't matter that much when the misalignment is so clear.

Not going to happen, bag fora have a history of being shut down. i would prefer bag talk stay very little.
