Im pleasantly surprised about the speedster. It looks and feels right. If you try to set the watch you feel the cheap rep mid beat movement. Also the clasp is wayyyy below GEN quality. Bracelet however feels almost like GEN. Overall weight is also as per GEN:

The Omega was not waterproof. A warm shower fogged up the xtal. I drained it, greased up the gasket & tightened up the caseback. Removed the bracelet and put it in a custom leather racing strap with sports car red stitching!

Hi there! I'm looking for a sub-$100 speedy rep. The only feature I'd really be disappointed about missing b/c of inaccuracies would be the crystal shape. Beyond that, so long as a non-hobbyist would have a difficult time determining that it's a rep when it's on my wrist, idc. For example, I don't care about subdial issues, and I'd probably almost prefer a quartz movement for durability and accuracy.

I apologize if I come off as a knuckle dragger, but I just really like the speedy aesthetic, and my watches are basically style accessories that tell time. I'd really appreciate some help!

Most TDs will offer Speedmasters from 2,5 bucks and up. Check your PM.

Hi, im looking to make my first purchase and trying to decide between
https://puretime03.com/speedmaster-...textured-dial-on-ss-bracelet-jap-quartz.html#
and
https://puretime03.com/speedmaster-...bracelet-manual-winding-chrono-movement.html#

seems the most significant difference is the movement, and from reading back on this thread and others my personal summary on my coice seems to be the quartz probably would be more reliable and easier then winding every day, but the lemanier watch is also likely to have a slightly better finish over all (i do prefer the finer look of the tachymetre markings). i do also like the read speedmaster text on the cheaper watch tho.

as a tie breaker, does anyone have an opinion on how reliable the lemanier movement is if left in a draw most of the time, and only brought out and wound up a few times a month?

Bingo!

@DreadPirateRobert - Our friend Arthur mentioned you're also into speedy's, let's connect offline later on. There are a few other pieces I'm thinking of (ck2998, '57 and broadarrow reissue) and want to ask your opinion.

I felt disturbance in the force. People talking about speedys without me. It is Speedy Tuesday after all.

My quartz cheapie is due soon. Bought through DHgate I don't have high expectations. But I will want to add a new crystal when it arrives so need to know where they can be had.

Under $100 i'd recommend the quartz versions over any of the auto versions which i think looks alot worst with the sunken date wheels, and the chronograph hand (seconds hand) always runnning etc.

This is probably the best 42mm moon watch quartz for $69
It has a high domed crystal but im not sure if its the correct shape.

Now this is what I'm looking for!! Thanks so much for all the info and links, I'll dig through them and see what I come up with. Appreciate the tip on the quartz v auto too - that reinforces my decision to go quartz for sure.

Hey guys,

After reading this thread and researching for a week, I think I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on my first rep.

I've decided to go with the quartz speedmaster off of http://www.tb-688.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=37_142&product_id=153I because I don't necessarily care as much as the mechanics of the watch as I do the aesthetics.

I still have a few questions though.

1) Are these replica watches water resistant?

2) Should I buy it though ToroBravo off of RWI or just buy it through their website?

Thanks for all the info on this thread. It has been a big help.

Any Experts can comment on this. I am curious of the replies
