Do you think instead of nickel plating the dial if we spray it with chrome spray pain then coat it with clear red. We can get closer result?
Also will masking the raised logo portion after removing the metal logo help?
Then after anodizing is done. Spray a coat of clear coat to get a uniform finish?
That's exactly what I did to mine last time. If you want to try, don't overspray the clear red, it'll make it look "wet" and that's not desirable. Spray from a good distance, from left direction to right. I used Tamiya silver back then and the result is nice, not as metallic as the gen but it's acceptable. I guess if you use a chrome paint, it'll be better.
As for the text, I didn't mask it since the bg red would be different than the rest. So I used a water slide decal as a temporary solution. Mikey2008 on RG now has found the guy who can cleanly pad print the text.
The clear coat is only to protect the paint underneath. It doesn't make the the paint uniform.
