Hey @xing_david

Was curious to hear about the progress here. I realize it’s tricky getting this right but would love to see some more of these cases/watches close up.

I’m just waiting to pull the trigger once we can get a little more hands on and see if the tungsten versions could be true competitors to CF/BTF case shape and rehaut (ofc taking into account that tungsten is harder to work with than steel).

Then there’s the question mark around gold plating durability…

On a side note there are theories about CF having given up on their tungsten daytona version. Wouldn’t swear on it but at least nothing was launched during summer as “promised”…

So far so good. I've been getting rose gold cases with full bracelets recently. These are all small batch so I can only offer what is made at the time. The rehaut is still rough but like you pointed out its to be expected.

I'm still wearing my original "gen 1" oysterflex tungsten rose gold watch and even with a not so great rehaut it is easily the best watch I've owned. I have a couple more cases on their way shortly. I'll take some updated pics.

This we dubbed the "brick". It is the heaviest rep Daytona that we've seen to date. This is a fully rose gold wrapped milled tungsten case, buff meteorite dial + hands, CF 4130, plated tungsten bezel from YG to RG and Deep Crystal.

I've ordered a WG Tungsten Platona with a "diamond" (read Masonite) dial from Xing_david. Have not received it yet (about two weeks away).
As soon as I get it I'll post on here for you guys to review (I'm no expert so it would be better if you guys review it on here.
At this stage it all looks VERY promising and lets face it "IF" the watch looks pretty good (according to YOU experts on here,) I believe it will take Rep watches to a whole new level. I'm hoping for a weight around 225 g and I know this will be "light" for a platinum one around 280g BUT it will kill the weight of a SS one at around 185g (if my weights shown are accurate?).
Think about it - we might be able to get gold plated reps that weigh VERY close to the originals! OK they ARE dearer than a SS version (my one is $US2805 delivered to Australia) but I consider this a bargain compared to an original or a SS REP at around $US800.

A SS daytona isnt even close to 180g, it's like 140g...

what's the total weight of that build?
Still not with me as it is in transit but JD has a gen 116508 and said it is on pair. Full tungsten is 226g so this should be 200g.

How does the platinum daytona bracelet look like with tungsten?
Does it look like a platinum or steel?

Love your work.

Can you confirm if OF models such as the 116515 include clasps that are tungsten? owning the gen, you know they have a certain feel that is very different from steel.

I don't think any factory at this point makes a full tungsten clasp. If they did my guess it might add about 4-6 grams over the stainless steel which are about 22-24grams.

I recently did a Tungsten build with a Xing Tungsten case and bracelet... the clasp was SS, but even so, the total weight of the finished build was 226g. There's a big difference in heft between the stock CF donor watch and the final Tungsten build. For context, the stock CF donor watch was 143g. There's a very noticeable difference between the two.

Details of the build here:
