date wheel being the same on blue and gray do you mean the same color? because i doubt that… they should be each color themed according to dial color, at least on gen.

Blue version of gen has mostly black (or dark grey if you want to call it) on the DW. Blue DW is not that common actually.

i’m pretty sure it uses the navy blue date wheel that’s dedicated to the blue color dial same as the 15400 as it is the same movement and same color hence the small number change on reference indicating it’s an iteration of the 15400

window cut out on the dials is different to accommodate the position of the date on the 3120 in relation to the dial size…

edit:
i see where youre coming from, however i still believe it’s mainly an optical illusion because the date wheel is not engraved and is not reflecting the light in the same way, therefore looking dull compared to the dial and appearing greyish

A couple of pics of the original blue dial and date wheel. Black or Blue background to the date, id lean towards a black tint. Either way, not sure on the wrist it would be noticeable.

Would you go Frank’s

oh wow even on gen too. I thought the gen 15400 had instant date change like the 15500, it’s what’s held me up from the 15400 but now I feel kinda stupid lol

I think there is defiantly something wrong with the date wheel colours, for example, the grey looks black on the above, but the original has a grey tint to it.

I noticed the hour markers are longer than the gen. At 12’ the marker is on top of 3 and a half squares. The gen is 3

Yes correct, instant tell! Despite it being incorrect, I think its great that the 15450 is getting some attention and we finally got a rep grey 15450

The blue version, based on the pics looks very much like my old JF. It was a good rep but the dial, like this IPF seem to have to strong sunburst. Hope to get my QC pics next week in Jtime's QC studio lightning.

Where I need to be.
Prime candidate for a Franken. I'll see if they have a black dial version, otherwise I'll have to go gen black date disc too.

Anyone have pics of the blue dial? Curious how they executed the color. The tapisserie isn't good enough, but maybe it looks okay enough.
AFAIK, The 15450 was released with blue, silver and grey dials.
The tapisseries are not ok at all. The shape, size and forms are totally wrong.

I think it’s most obvious with the silver - not so bad on blue and gray.

On all colors it’s obvious to me. But if you can accept it, then it’s good. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and as long as you think it looks good, that’s most important if you’re the one purchasing it.

Yeah, I have a black gen dial, and (I didn’t know this until AFTER I bought it lol), the black dial was only released with diamond bezel. So I’ll have a fantasy franken but ah well.

Agreed that the dial is absolutely worse than anything, but hopefully the case design is an improvement. Certainly the thickness and movement is an upgrade from JF.

It definitely does. The cal. 3120 used by the 15400 has an instant date change. Lets not get our facts mixed up.
From what I've read on another thread, you can't really fit in the gen part that makes it have instant date change correct? Are there any other parts that could fit/should be replaced to improve this clone movement? What's the general quality of it in your opinion?

I think that both the gen and rep 3120 serves 2 functions: tell the time, and tell the date.
The clone has replicated the functions very well and other than the slow date change, the finish of both movements and the refined engravement and decoration on the gen differentiates it from the rep. So I would say movement plates if you can get your hands on it, and the rotor. I would say the clone 3120 movement is ok, but could have done a lot better with an instant date change mechanism built in instead of a slow change one.
