I purchased a Sillan 16610 case from Alibaba.

Alibaba advertised it for $200.00 and Aliex for $444.00 what the heck I can get the whole watch assembled from ARF for $400
It's more expensive to buy parts only.
You can buy in groups on Alibaba and share, or you can buy multiple cases and sell the ones you don't need.

I’m considering a Sillan case for a Kermit build. Rehaut or No rehaut - I don’t really care.

I guess it would take a ARF bracelet, a VS3135, a BP dial and ARF 16610LV handset?

Any ideas for a crystal or handset would be greatly apreciated.

It would be better to buy an ARF and replace the dial than to buy a sillan case and create it from parts.

The thing is that I have a BP 16610LV an ARF bracelet, and a Horlogear insert.

With a sillan case I could swap the VR movement, BP dial, Horlogear insert and fix the hands while at it, since I found a source for a BP classic handset.

I think I will go with the following build:
- Sillan/ARF case No Rehaut
- ARF Bracelet
- VR3135 movement
- BP date wheel
- BP Dial
- BP Maxi minute hand
- BP Classic Hour and Second hands
- Horlogear Insert (Sharp 4)

I’m doubting that it’s worth upgrading the crystal, but happy to take recommendations!

This way I would get rid of the wide chamfers on the BP case, and I honestly can’t see the difference between Sillan and BP crownguards.

Am I missing something here - I’m not willing to drop the money for Gen parts, and this seems like a nice and affordable build, since I already have most of the parts?

This dial is TC but 27.8 mm, the same as GEN and ARF.

I don't know the size of the BP dial, but if it's the same dimensions, that's good.

@KJ2020 measured the BP 3135 dials and they are 27.8mm as well. It should be an easy swap then. Thanks!

Any recommendations for the crystal? Keep it stock BP or ARF - would a Gen crystal be worth it?

I saw this watch with DEEP crystals in it to try it out.
It has good clarity, but I don't think it is appropriate for its age.

Gen is always best but personally I wouldn't use a period correct 25-295c with no AR. I put a gen 25-295c-CAR-C1 in my gen 16710. I always disliked the stock 5 digit crystals.

If you're not happy with the stock rep crystal, a Clark's with AR cyclops is nice or use a DEEP. I have 3 or 4 BPs still with stock crystals and am fine with them. Whenever I want to upgrade one I use a Clark's. If a gen 16610 goes to an RSC and needs a crystal it gets a 25-295c-C12-C1 so AR cyclops is out there in gen.

My 16710 before and after. I care more about liking its looks than I do about period correctness. YMMV.

Thanks for the input!

Where can I buy a Clark's without AR cyclops?

I will consider putting a 25-295c-C12-C1 crystal in it, since it will have the BP dial, which is a D6 Serviced Dial. Those two would go great together, and add to the narative that it’s been to a RSC. And it does look great with the AR!

I found a reference of a Rolex Sub from 1989 that had it’s dial changed to a D6, it still has the orginal crystal, with AR cyclops.

Did Rolex ever produce the 16610ln with a AR cyclops as stock in the later years, or was it only after a service. (I’m guessing if someone knows, it’s you :) )

Your BP dial should have "short ft" and "space m" text on it, unlike the link you posted. However that text combo is also on a service dial that you can find in some gens.

AFAIK the 16610ln never came from Rolex with an AR cyclops. I've read that the later 16610lv models (V & G serials) did come with factory AR cyclops.

That information is hard to come by - TRF is probably the best resource but has nothing other than what's stated above. If anyone knows more (or has a 2008 - 2009 16610ln with a factory AR cyclops) please chime in.

Wow! You are right - I see it now. Amazing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I can see by the upper right lug chamfer that the Kermit you posted is a BP with a after market or Gen insert, right?

Yes that insert pearl is such crap - I shouldn't post pics like that. It's a BP 16610ln that now looks like this.
