Wow, have to appreciate all the care and attention that goes into each of these.

Yup, each one is a labour of love :p

On another note the thread has broken the 8,000 views mark, so thanks to everyone who's read it and commented. Any requests for what you would like to see included is also welcome. I will help if I can.

This really is a fantastic tutorial and has proved a great source of reference, I am considering removing my crown guards completely from my 1665 and fitting a sterile dial and possibly a large crown. so if you are after requests for stuff to include in the thread then anything about CG removal would be cool :)

cheers again for the great tutorial.

Remove the crown tube and bezel assembly then have at it with either a bench grinder or some metal files. Then just re-polish as you would any other case side. I did this recently with a Sub-C case.

"CousinsUK 3.0mm Internal Spline tool" more than £25.

can you check what size of torx screwdriver is identical to the expensive special "spline tool"?
such as T11x50, T12x50...

Sorry mate, I'm not sure. I don't have a torx screwdriver set I don't think. But honestly the splines on the inside of the tubes are pretty small and you can easily strip them if you don't use the correct tool. You can use a rat tail file or something like that but you're going to damage the inside of the tool and risk leaving particles of metal if you don't clean it out properly afterwards.

Mate, top marks. I know this was written a while ago but I thought I'd add my appreciation too! I really admire the skills you guys have! I'm on the hunt for a pre-vintaged watch all the time but doing it yourself does also make it more satisfying :)

Excellent tutorial. And Games Workshop paints! I've got a load of those kicking about somewhere too from my old lead figure painting days...
