Received my Explorer ii from Trusty.
I am enjoying it very much, arrived just in time to test over a weekend and be able to use for an upcoming trip. I do have some observations.
From a comparison, I don't have a Gen Rolex yet, so my comparison to others will be my VSF Sub (Also from Trusty) and a gen Breitling that I bought new over 20 years ago, just back from full service.
Looks and feels great on the wrist.
Keeping great time, only issue I have with movement is when coming off hack, it does not slide back in when pushing crown, need to turn the crown a little and then it clicks in. With the amount of use I have planned for this, it will not bother me.
The GMT functionality works great.
I removed the case back and crown stem (no impact on functionality noted above) to add some silicone gasket grease.
Clasp felt less smooth than the VSF, but it works great. At least as good as my Breitling pilot clasp. Got the size dialed in, feels great. I do prefer glidelick, but the little small Easy link worked very well for just a little more size when needed.
Lume lasts all night long, and very legible.
No dust or visual imperfections that I could see.
Mine has the smaller crown.
Did pass my waterproof tester to 7 Bar, which is all I want to crank the homemade tester up to.
Will be sufficient for anything I will put it through.
Plan to wearit straight for about a week, then it will most likely sit and be used for trips and when I just feel like wearing it.
I'm very happy with this Explorer ii.
Thanks Trusty, and to this forum. Without which, I would not be nearly as knowledgeable about these amazing product, and who to buy from.
Got the sub to essentially try it out for a while before plopping down real money.
Got this Explorer ii because my old GMT Citizen watch (although really good) only allows the hour hand to move forward when adjusting for time zone change, have to go all the way around, then set the date again. Looked at some others, but the Explorer ii functions exactly how I would want my GMT to function, but don't need both gen Rolexes.
Attached are some pics of the Explorer ii, and some comparisons with the VSF Sub for size and lume after stepping outside for the side by side shots.
