I would like to put this on record, for all that it is worth.
I recently purchased 2 x reps from this list. Both reps are timepieces that I have been longing for the gen versions for a while now. After coming across the world of reps at the beginning of this year and studying the NWBIG list for weeks, I thought that I would go down the rep path to see how the two timepieces feel and look before diving down the gen path.
The two in question are:
2018 Omega Seamaster 300 VSF V2 Black Dial, and;
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 8900 VSF Black Dial.
Now these are both regarded on the list as First Class Reps, the AT 8900 likely a super rep.
After owning both reps for over 2 months now, I just thought I’d provide the community with my 2 cents. The AT 8900 is an absolute stunner and I would highly regard this as being a Super Rep. There is absolutely no flaws with it and I feel proud to wear this on my wrist everyday.
The SM 300 however, has been somewhat of a let down. There are two very evident and nagging issues with this piece that I just cannot get my head around and they are not simple fixes.
Firstly, the lume colour on the dial markers in normal light. They have a tinge of green/yellow and are not the pure white colour the gen dial markers have. This is an obvious giveaway and a daily annoyance whenever wearing this rep.
Secondly, the crown guards are too short and so the crown protrudes past the guards way more than gen. This is a dead giveaway on first impression of you know what to look for.
Due to these two issues, I would not even consider this rep as first class, as they are dead giveaways as soon as you look at the watch (even from a distance) for anyone who knows about them. I don’t know why this rep is even listed as a First Class. I would even go as far as to say this should be removed. What are others thoughts?
Anyway, I thought I would provide my input after wearing these two reps for a couple of months now. Would love to hear others thoughts.
