Nice base, but the lugs and the crown guards will bother you if you don't work on the chamfers of lugs,
Weiden the crown guards and give them a slightly softer angle from case side.
Just bought an Ali Sub case for 17 $ and after working on it, it does't look that bad.
thanks

a question about the CG. The interior is rounded. When you say "widen" are you referring to the edges only, or also shaving off the curved interiors?

If you look at the first post you can se the comparison between "shaped" vs untouched CG. You only have to touch the edge and blend it in with the curved part. Hope it helps!

thanks. I was guessing that but wanted to make sure as this is my first shot at this. When you have done it several times, some things are obvious, and not so much to an aspiring modder like me

I have spend more on new tools than on the watch itself. 😅

oh boy, I am shivering with excitement 😁

i can't remove the crystal, it seems glued. I have a press but I have not figured it out yet

what dremel tip do you use? can you post a pic?

what speed?

Immerse it in acetone (nail polish remover) it will not damge the plexi but will remove the glue. I use a toothpick and quetip to remove the excess glue. I do not use a press to remove the xtal, I use a bezel knife on the crystal retaining ring. Prize up the ring and the xtal comes with it. you can then pop the xtal out from the ring.

I am no pro at this. So feel free to disregard my brute force and ignorance approach lol. My watch maker used to charge me €70 to replace xtals so I used trial and error myself. It was an accident at first. I was taking off a bezel and the whole thing xtal, retaining ring everything came off. Some of these are badly assembled.

thanks even the crystal retaining ring is stuck

edit : managed to get the ring out, but the crstal reacted to the solvant  it's dead
edit 2 : I polished the crystal somehow...positively I now have a credibly aged crystal 😅 It's not a big deal I have some from cousins coming in as I also had to order Dialux and the single shoulder spring bars

Yeah, don't think you should use acetone with plexi! Fine for sapphire crystal but it 'melts' plastic!

When playing with plexi xtals always have a tube of Polywatch. It will take out most scratches.

I use it but I never reused an xtal after. So just for removal only. Some of these are caked with glue.

So I had this GMT that I bought from "Yuki" as a "kit" a few years ago. I started building it but then stopped the project and put it away partially completed. I brought it out again a few days ago to refresh my memory of where I had left off. After browsing this thread I decided that the Cyclops on my project had to go. I decided to watch a YouTube
and it looked so simple that I decided to give it a try. It did not go as expected........

This will work on saphire xtals. The old xtals are plexi (plastic) so they just melt.

new episode.

The crystal retainer ring and the flat spring are glued solid :ROFLMAO:
That's maybe why the bezel was spinning freely without friction

any ideas on how to make the bezel have some more friction ?
At worse I will just freeze it in place. I never play with bezels anyway

@Karbon74 I used a drum sanding tip, the speed depends on your skills. High speed will obviously take more material so I suggest starting with the lowest setting. I would replace the crystal tbh since the stock one is incredibly ugly and low quality. To make the bezel have some friction you just need to bend the ring/spring a little.

Thanks my friend

I have the grey ones and the brown ones plus one that looks like stone? . I guess it's the grey?

The issue I have is that the retainer ring and the spring are glued solid together. I cannot take them apart with a knife

Update on my 5513 tribulation. After careful inspection under magnification, the washer is simply not there ☹️

what I thought was a washer is only a ridge on the retainer ring. I have asked Trusty to help but in the meantime I saw that CousinsUK had one. Oh well.
