Did you look at the previous page in this thread? There are pics posted comparing the GF to other white dial watches and a white piece of paper... it is clearly off white/cream.

Thanks, yes, that was a good way to see the off white colour of the GF....still think its not quite at the off white level of the gen by the looks of it but maybe someone has seen both side by side...still looks pretty nice though....

Puretime states that the black coating of the Avenger GMT is PVD.
Ryan from Intime has listed it as DLC and sells it for $40 more. Who is right?

No one would ever notice this unless you had both gen and rep side by side. I wouldn’t let that stop you from buying it

It's a DLC coating. Very hard to scratch. Puretine is wrong.

I have said this time and time again, and is is really NOT hard to look up instead of relying on WRONG answers here. DLC IS PVD, PVD is a process that DLC (the coating) is applied.
Amazing how people just repeat bad information that they read on this forum. LOOK THIS UP

Either 2824 or 2836. You just need to compare the font from @repworlds original pics at the start of the thread or my thread #280 or @ernien's thread #283 to see the correct font snd then choose the dw on the bay that matches it best.

Nearly impossible to find a gen Breitling dw. For 2836 the chance is smaller than for 2824 because Breitling did not use this movement very often.
Good luck!

The 2836 is just a 2824 with the day complication, so isn't the DW the same for both?

No. The dw is NOT the same. 2824 uses a flat dw while 2836 has got a dw which is significantly higher. You can mount a 2836 dw for more dial clearance into a 2824 but not vice versa.

Thanks, I didn't know that
I thought it was only the mainplate on a 2836 that was higher. So if you had a slighly sunken dw on a 2824 I assume you could use a 2836 wheel to raise it?

You can do that. But have in mind that you may need bigger canon pinion heights.

It‘s not only the mainplate. The hour wheel on a 2836 is fixed through a tiny plate while on the 2824 it is fixed via flitter and the dial. And 2836 does change the date absolutely instantaneous. 2824 needs some time for the full change.

Personally I prefer the 2836 over the 2824.

Sorry to revisit the whole white dial query but I was browsing on trusty time website and they seem to have 2 versions. One is the white dial gf version which looks to be off white but not quite the cream version of the gen, as previously discussed. However, they also have a cream version which looks closer to the gen and comes with rubber deployment. Doesn't mention the factory though so probably not gf version and therefore not top quality.....anyone shed any light on this?

When comparing shades of cream you really NEED to have all the lighting conditions AND the camera settings to be identical or the comparisons will be useless.

I don't have a gen or I would happily provide the pics, but I can guarantee you that I could take pics of the exact same watch and produce pics with 100 different shades of cream just by varying camera settings and light source etc.

I guess what I am getting at is just because you see pics that make it look like one might be better than the other doesn't necessarily make it so.

Go with the GF. It is a nice watch. Just enjoy it and don't worry about it

Is it the crappy ANF version? Look at the size of the GMT hand. If it is as long as the hour markers, it's the crappy ANF. The Gen and GF is about halfway the length of the hour markers.

But it does come with the deployant, which I like.

Yeah I noticed that too and thought, hmmmm, that works nicely....have the normal rubber from the skyland so if I did go for the GF version, I wonder if the TD would swap it out for the deployment for the same price......I think the white dial would work well on a brown leather anyway so not too bothered about the rubber strap....strange that they are selling with it in my opinion, better on bracelet or leather...they seem to be selling the colt on leather for the record...
