Are you saying that the font on the datewheel is incorrect? If it is, that is new to me. I'd like to see a close up of the gen to compare....
People obsess about a slight font difference on datewheel & I guess I'm glad they do because that is how we get reps that are as good as they are, but on the other hand I'm not sure anyone could tell unless you look under a loop.
All I was saying is that that I don't think you could tell with the naked eye if this font was with or without serif
You can see the gen on page 1 of this thread to compare. Rep was slightly off but very close, now the font has serifs and looks bolder. Was bordering and very close to super rep status so font change is a step back. Just goes to show V2 is not necessarily better than V1. I agree with you its not going to be noticeable on the wrist and have ordered one, so just saying its a shame they didn't leave as was as it was better.

My mind is racing, I see the date font is off on my qc pics (gmt white dial) now but the font is the same as my avenger sea wolf first edition (which is spot on), different model. And it's more like the blacksteel avenger cobra dial I didn't pick up exactly because of the date font. It is like the date wheel on the cobra dial and the gmt have been switched...these date fonts are messing with me, I think I need a new pair of glasses an a spreadsheet to track these!
GMT and Blackbird use pretty much stock eta datewheel font, other Avengers use the more angular Breitling font for the 2. None use serif. Could be that GF has bought in a bunch of movements that have the serif DW and just fitting those. Will be interesting to see if they turn up in other models. Solution is buy a DW off the bay and fit it, or don't buy the watch.

So it seems you are right. I will ask for a date wheel & see if I can get this sorted. For me personally i don't find this to be all that big a deal. Since I have all the tools and since I have changed date wheels before this mod doesn't scare me. If I didn't have the tools i don't think i would bother.
Makes me wonder though. I can't imagine them making this change intentionally. You are mentioning v2. No where have I ever seen a mention of v2 other than just now. I'm assuming you are calling v2 mine with the serif on the font of the date wheel
I'm not saying there is a v2, just distinguishing the first one with the better dw from this one. I have ordered a blue version and it looks like this has the different dw too so it does seem that this is a different batch. Like you say not a major problem and not that difficult a fix but a ballache all the same.

Sounds like there is hope of a mod on the date wheel then...my first venture into this area, I'll check out the bay.

One step forward, two backwards- name of the game! But a DW is not a big deal, you can get a gen eta DW relatively cheap
I'm guessing that I might be able to get a rep date wheel with the proper font even cheaper. I'm looking into it

Mine that arrived today has the same date font change (very annoying, will need to mod) but looks spot on white dial compared to my gen tag.Here are a few pics that show what I meant about this dial being more of a cream or off white color. 1st is the Breitling GMT that I would describe as a nice cream or off white, 2nd is of Seiko SARX019 that I would describe as slightly off white, the 3rd is of a Mitutoyo calipers dial that is the closest to white & 4th is all together with a little strip of white copy paper. All pics were taken with the same lighting set up and same camera settings and I would say that All are very representative of what the watches & calipers the look like in real life/lighting. With that said look closely at the 4th pic and you will see that the light is coming from the right hand side of the pic and just this little detail changes the way the white on the copy paper looks from right to left. Clearly the coloring on the copy paper is the same...
