Too bad, even with a new retaining ring there is no chance? The stock bezel assembly is really crappy.
@lukko what’s your plan for modding this part?
There is no retaining ring on this SD.
The bezel is hold with an ordinary wire like on cheap Reps.
Also the Crystal has wrong shape and is pressed in the Case.
As I stated before the old BP 16600 was way better.

Now I try to get an old version for my next project.

As mentioned earlier BP may reuse 93250 clasps instead of producing new 93160 ones. Although also marked 93250 the SELs are made to fit the SD case.

The BP SD-SEL is on the left, a RAF Sub-SEL on the right. In contrast to the RAF the BP SEL does not accept 2mm spring bars.

Differences become more clear when mounted. Putting the BP SD-SEL on a RAF 16610 (right side, stock on left). The BP SD-SEL is too thick to be a common 93250 SEL.

And vice versa the RAF Sub-SEL on the BP 16600 (right side, stock on left). The common 93250 SEL leaves a gap and can’t be fastened at all.

Finally, the BP SD with stock SELs on both sides. I don’t think it’s very different from the gen fit.

Built out of ignorance or lacking knowledge I don’t think the bracelet represents a dramatic flaw (the bezel is a different story though). Realistically, these 5 digit models are not longer mainstream and there is no competition among the factories to build the best ones. BTW, I replaced the wrong clasp with a 116610 model and now it’s a perfect wearable combination for me :)
For me it's a weird step back for no reason, the older ones comes also with SA3135 whichbis a shitty movement anyway. I bought one with incorrect SEL shape but right stamp inside but with a 93250 clasp.
I think now they mixing parts what is available in the Factory. They give no no attention in details only to sell it.👎

Well should I try to reject and get another?
I approved but maybe it hasn’t shipped

Bracelet and clasp is main mistake?

Overall quality is a step back in my opinion. Crystal has a bad shape, Bezelconstruction is a Joke today, SEL has wrong shape, stamps are wrong. I try to get an older version of it for shute and sold the new breed one.

I cut about a centimeter off the end of the click spring, bent it over and filed it a bit to make a new short spring. I then slid a piece of very thin nylon (0.4 mm) under the inlay to reduce the resonance. A thicker one would press out the glued inlay. Finally, added little silicone grease on the bezel teeth and reassembled. The click noise and feel is now such that I can live with it. Until someone hopefully has a better solution :)
The next step is to move to a VR movement and in this process possibly new hands.

Despite the flaws, I can't help but find it a great wearable watch.

I love the blue tinted seawater breached bezel. I also love the case on this BP 16600, perfect SEL

Really great looking inlay. Something ceramic subs can't deliver. Naturally salted? :)
Hi Mel ,
This is 100% naturally salted + an underwater scratch @ 50 on the insert from Egypt.
The double-sided tape gave away log ago and the insert is clued to the bezel to avoid falling off.
Imho natural beats those baked or chlorine bleached inserts. It resembles a 22 year old daily beater.

I have a wso insert incoming, I have mixed feelings about ordering from wso but let's see
I'm curious to see how it's gonna look IRL. Show us pics when it's in place.
I hesitated myself to buy one and ended up going for a gen insert.

Need to have the SA3135 version that i’ve just ordered mate and see what i can do for better click and gen feeling.
Hi @lukko , if you have had a chance to look at the new version, I would be interested in your opinion if it can be improved. I'm afraid the strange design of the bezel could make all additional efforts useless.

Dang, I think I’m gonna have to get a WSO bezel to fade :D

I did the fade on my old TC and liked it

Just got my BP SD back from modding/building.

Specs are now :

Gen insert
Gen crown and tube
Gen hands
VS3135
Case worked : CG, lugs thinned, chamfers, polish/brush
Crystal polished and bracelet smoothened.

All in all, quite a different watch than the BP I received new a few weeks back, and much improved 🙂. Feels and look stunning.

The only concern now is about the gen hands : lume color in bright natural light is yellowish on the BP dial (predictable). 2 options then : reluming hands and dial indexes or downgrading back to the BP hands. Decisions, decisions...

Thank you for sharing your build. So you think the stock hands (which look a bit greenish to me) might fit better to the dial than gen hands because the latter are too white?
