Forgot to mention that the 3135 movement was touching the screwdown lip on the caseback. So I had to trim that down slightly. It’s not pretty on the inside but anyone who asks to see the inside of the caseback can kick rocks ;)
Interesting, so besides engravings BP used a differently dimensioned caseback for the 2824 model. I also have a VR3135 on the way to me. Hopefully no trimming will be needed

Actually, I just found the VR3135 issue was discussed here long before.

Now I’m less confident that it will fit without problems.

The trimming wasn’t super difficult. Just take your time, if you have a dremel. I put the caseback in a case holder and tightened it down really good just made circular patterns over and over. Clean it out. Measure, and repeat.

Then I put the caseback on and screwed it in and rotated the watch to see if the rotor would move. Once it did freely then I was done.

Thank you, and I also have found hope here again. This thread is a real treasure.☺️

You’re welcome! Even with the little challenges, I don’t have any regrets moving from the 2824 to 3135. No dealing with datewheel overlays either which always used to bug me if I needed to fix the keyless (which also seems stronger on the 3135.

So glad to be back in the 5 digit Sea Dweller game.

Though its not a BP but it's still from a reputable factory :)

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but it's something I discovered this week after getting a new Polipetto 16600 to compliment the regular one I picked up a few months ago. For some reason BP went away from the gen-like bezel construction on the regular 16600 a while ago, but the Polipetto dial version still has it. In addition, the regular dial model has no lug chamfers while the Polipetto has chamfers and a slightly larger hev.

Hi members and experts, planning for a 16600 build and perhaps if you guys don't mind, could you share some knowledge with me?

1. I currently have a BP SD SA3135 version - this is the new version where bezel assembly is NOT gen spec as shown above. However, the click seems pretty good and APPEARS to be 120 click. I wonder did anyone convert this new not gen spec bezel assembly to a gen spec one?

2. The xtal appears to be the most troublesome. As it stands, from the previous posts, neither gen xtal or any of the aftermarket ones would drop in. IF you know of any xtal better than the stock and would just drop in, I appreciate your help on it. Trying to avoid extensive work on the case, I know shape is off but for now, I think I would like to keep the project simple.

3. Next, I hope to change the movement - I assume it would no issue since I specifically got the SA3135 model, and so swapping to a VS3135 would just drop in? Could anyone confirm that?

4. Then its change to gen dial and hands. For hands, it should be quite straightforward. For gen dial - I saw on previous posts/threads that the bp sd stock dial is 28.8mm and gen is 27.3mm, would the case just fit the gen dial or will the gen dial drop thru the rehaut? This is a key question because the gen dial is main bulk of the cost and would need some confirmation before committing to the dial.

5. Finally, if you have any parts to spare or sell, let me know too!

Thanks everyone!
Hi @Cloudman,
have you been able to find some answers to your questions? Would be great to know.

As for the movement, I'm pretty sure the VS3135 will fit since people here have done this successfully with a VR3135. I’m going to replace the SA3135 with a VR3135 too.

What bothers me most is the bezel sound. Due to the huge click spring and the assembly I think it’s way too loud. I do not have a gen SD to compare but I guess the sound should be similar to the Sub. I’ll try to replace the wire inside the bezel with a silicon ring. I will see if this works..

Very interesting, thank you! Is the bezel action and click sound different? If you have time for pictures that would be great.

I have gen SD and gen SubC and the bezel feel and sound are completely different. Never handled a 5 digit gen Sub so can't say is it similar to that or not but its not like the newer ceramic Subs.

Absolutely, click sounds of 16610 and 116610 are very different too. Due to the same bezel construction of the 16610 and the 16600 the sound should be the same.

The sound and action is quite different, but at the moment I cannot compare due to having damaged the bezel on the Polipetto while remvoing it to replace the insert. I ordered one from WSO and can update in a few days. I did find out that my revelation might not be as profound as I had thought, as the Polipetto is a 2824 model whereas I had assumed it was a 3135 like my regular 16600.

Hi all! I just recently acquired a 16600 from M2M for quite a steal. It needed some brushing and a new click spring but looks great now. The only thing is that the hands are incredibly flat and I’m looking to replace them.

To my surprise when I opened up the caseback I discovered I actually had the decorated 2836 version instead of the 3135. Can anyone recommend any good hands to replace the stock ones with?

Also any aftermarket insert recs would be much appreciated!

For your information, the clasp of my recent 16600 with SA3135 is stamped 93250. Also the SEL shows 93250 which I found funny. The correct band reference for the SD should be 93160A since 93250 belongs to the 16610 Sub. While the clasp may be reused from a batch of Sub bracelets the end link is specially made to fit the thicker SD. Obviously the factory decided to be consistent and put the wrong code on it. :D

I want one of these, but does the bezel insert look off to anyone else? Maybe I'm seeing things but I've looked at a lot of gens and considered buying one. The insert looks wrong to me, like the font is too bold or something.

Will the BP take a genuine bezel insert?

I’ve seen some with gen inserts, but they might need to be sanded down. I don’t recall 100%
