Are the newest versions worth buying ? Seem totally different bezel construction and crown guards

There are new ARF SD 16600’s (and subs) which may soon take the cake from BP after all this time! They just came out. But as far as I know (and I’m a 16600 fanatic) the BP still holds the crown. The newest one from BP is 3135 only, and should look a little different then expected while being more correct to gen.

Interesting, I’d not seen anything about the 16600 SD from ARF. Hope they do a better job than their 16610’s.

To be honest, one of the things I like most of BP is that they make their watches on ETA clones too. If they stop doing that and sport only 3135 clones it’s not a plus to me :-(

totally fair statement. I like both, and the 3135’s from a while ago were indeed awful but now they are getting way better so it’s a toss up for me

None of the TDs I’ve messaged say that ARF makes one. Where did you hear this ?

I’ll find the post on FB, was about 1-2 weeks ago, I was blown away. The 5 digit ARF Subs were announced and in the flesh first. Then the 5 Digit SD was posted. I follow SD’s as a whole so was really surprised to see ARF reviving the dead.

Ordered and modded for my friend:
- BP 16600 SA3135 Italian Diving Police version
- Relumed the hands to C1 superluminova (the stock BP hands have a yellowish tint)
- Countersunk the tube hole to install a swiss 7030 tube (the stock BP crown/tube sits flush against the case which is annoying to me)
- Installed a gen-spec ARF 704 crown (the stock BP crown cannot fit well with a gen-spec 7030 tube)
- Regulated the SA3135 movement

I’ve asked my contacts in China and no one knows of an ARF 16600. The 16610 ARF models have been around for 3-4 years now without any sign of other models. I wish they would do a convincing 16710 GMT too!

Yes, it is quite annoying that no factory makes decent 5-digit Subs and GMT's. Obviously majority of the buyers want the latest models for "maximum bling" but a classic will always represent a completely different level, if you know what I mean.

Personally I would be the first to buy a 14060M rep, but I guess that show is cancelled due to lack of interest...

Does yours still have a gen-like bezel assembly? The one I recently got is different

Hi,

wanna buy a gen 16600 and compared the posted pics of the reps to my pictures of the real one. Furthermore I made a new topic in "GENUINE WATCHES" named "Gen Seadweller/Deepsea Check", if the Sea Dweller I'm interested to buy is original.

Do you have any comments or concerns about the posted watches?

Thank you all in advance for the time and effort.

Hi members and experts, planning for a 16600 build and perhaps if you guys don't mind, could you share some knowledge with me?

1. I currently have a BP SD SA3135 version - this is the new version where bezel assembly is NOT gen spec as shown above. However, the click seems pretty good and APPEARS to be 120 click. I wonder did anyone convert this new not gen spec bezel assembly to a gen spec one?

2. The xtal appears to be the most troublesome. As it stands, from the previous posts, neither gen xtal or any of the aftermarket ones would drop in. IF you know of any xtal better than the stock and would just drop in, I appreciate your help on it. Trying to avoid extensive work on the case, I know shape is off but for now, I think I would like to keep the project simple.

3. Next, I hope to change the movement - I assume it would no issue since I specifically got the SA3135 model, and so swapping to a VS3135 would just drop in? Could anyone confirm that?

4. Then its change to gen dial and hands. For hands, it should be quite straightforward. For gen dial - I saw on previous posts/threads that the bp sd stock dial is 28.8mm and gen is 27.3mm, would the case just fit the gen dial or will the gen dial drop thru the rehaut? This is a key question because the gen dial is main bulk of the cost and would need some confirmation before committing to the dial.

5. Finally, if you have any parts to spare or sell, let me know too!

Thanks everyone!

So glad to be back in the 5 digit Sea Dweller game.

Though its not a BP but it's still from a reputable factory :)
