take a pic with as much possible reflection as you can get coming off the recess in the date window. I’m curious if it’s as bright a reflection as the 5 digit dial above this post.

Maybe it’s just me but mine doesn’t look anything like those. I’ve had the movement assembly out and still don’t see anything but gloss black.

Hi all,
I am hoping I can get some help here. I got what I believe to be gen dial for the 16600. As I was installing it into my VR3135, I discovered that the dial feet does not fit. The dial is also smaller than the BP dial.
Has anyone ever encounter this?

Usernametaken : look at the date window here, it’s got super crisp reflections, yours does not, because it is satin not gloss not matte

Unfortunately the dial feet are not for 3135 on that dial. The genuine is smaller than the BP dial but it looks like that dial is for an ETA

I’m going to take it out again and look at it. Just got my DJ41 today so I was messing with that. Maybe im expecting a different effect from the dial but as I said I took it out and didn’t see any difference from the subs I’ve taken apart in the past.

That’s why I love the sd4k dial, it creates such an illusion. Mine literally looks high gloss on some angles but because of the lighter colour it seems dull satin on other angles. I’ll try capture some better photos later… either way it’s beautiful. This the same dial just on an angle where it looks black with a more glossy sheen around the date window and the inner window bevel literally disappears

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice piece but I don’t see anything matte or satin whatsoever, even beside a gen gloss dial. I’m just trying to figure out if the dial is wrong.

Hmm mine looks like that under some light. If it doesn’t change under other lighting conditions then maybe they changed the dial colour.
This BP right? And how old is this dial?

BP 5 digit dial is gloss. I have had 3 of them, it’s supposed to be glossy like the mid lifecycle 16600.
The 6 digit SD4K 116600 that was posted above is supposed to be satin, not gloss not matte, in the middle. The SD43 is dark grey satin, it appears gloss black at times and matte grey others. I’m wearing it now.

Thanks for clearing that up, so I was right the dial is not matte or satin so it is indeed incorrect. Second time you e mentioned the thread is about the 5 digit. As I said before, was hoping to find some info on this, after all the title of the thread is BP Sea Dweller, best sea dweller period” no mention of five digit only.

I get it completely, wasn’t trying to clown ya, just saying it’s not the thread for 6 dig watches, there’s 220+ pages of discussion on 5dig.
the truth is, if your dial is as glossy as it seems, it’s off from gen. It should be a dark grey almost (in certain light) similar to the SD43 seen here….
