Amazing long lived [266 posts] thread here on how a humble simple BP SD can look so Gen, and with a few mods, can give all the other Reps a run for the money !! What a watch !!

Rudy..I want your watch!

LOL.. thanks coming from the guy that started this awesome thread!
I got 1k in this build after said and done without lug holes....I bought everything new including the Swiss watch from Sead and all the parts and shipping back and forth ..the only thing that isn't new was the gen crown which was used and in very good condition from rsh..So it wasn't cheap to build...But from your own experience you already know that! But i'm happy with the results...And its one of my keepers now after building four of them and not being happy with them..Very happy camper now!..Thanks to my bro Rudy!
Now its time to send my other project SD to ado..!

In my journey to build a great BP.SD ..I learnt a few things!
There isn't no reason to buy a gen insert...The stock BPSD insert is that good.(See my Gen Rep comparison a few pages back in this thread)
The crown is really the one thing's that in my opinion that needed changed ..But some of the new BPSD have a pretty good crown (Have seen some great crowns on the ssd version to) Again so many variations with these reps!
The DWO on every one i bought was always mis aligned.. But on the other hand i have seen some of the other members have good DWO alignment. Plus the font looks pretty good on the numbers..so if you can get good DWO alignment on your stock BPSD ...keep it!
The newer BPSD dial and hands has improved a little with the lume..Its just like the DWO issue!...Its hit or miss weather or not you get a good one or not? (Most of the time the issue is uneven applied lume on the markers..or darker lume on the markers vs the hands!) I came really close to using a gen dial...But when i compared TC dial against the gen..There wasn't much difference! All though the stock dial has improved...but after closer inspection... the TC dial had crisper text and more sharper clearer cornet at 12..and the markers are much more better esp the lume application vs the stock dial! Remedy for that is...One could relume the stock dial...But it makes better sense and money wise to just buy the TC dial and hands to start with! Unless you know how to relume?
The bracelet has come a long way though! The cornet on the clasp is about as good as TC...The sel fit was the only issue i had with the BPSD bracelet...But yet again ..i have seen good and bad sel fit with these bracelets!
So it boils down to how anal you are? (Also how good of an example you receive?) This rep in my opinion is one of the best out of the box reps i have owned out of hundreds of reps!
You can save your self a lot of money by just using most of the stock parts and modding what you got!
But if you are a stickler for details...exp to pay some money on parts and modding!
Here is the formula i used!
Clarks Click spring!..Rsh said old one was junk!
Tc dial
Tc hands
Tc tube
Tc bracelet comes with 2mm gen spec spring bars
BK dwo
Gen crown
Gen insert
DSCN0137_zps9aedf7ae.jpg

The case and CG's had extensive work by rsh...he also done all the install on all the parts! It sounds simple of enough..But it isn't esp if you have no modding experience?.. (Just by sanding on the CG's or case to much can ruin the whole project ..same with sanding on the sels of the TC bracelet..you sand to much..it can ruin the part) A lot of work went into this piece..With a lot of money and patience sourcing and collecting parts ! Plus i was very grateful and blessed to have a great friend like rsh to take time to do this build for me!

If i knew what i know now?..LOL!!
I would have kept one of my old examples (Which had better Cg's and modded it with a few gen parts and had the same watch i have now!) So basicly you can take a stock BPSD and do a few mods and get it close to gen! Example above^^^^^

Have a great weekend guys!

Only a few tweaks here and there and the factory will have a killer super rep. As it is it's scuba capable. Just make sure you grease and check the orings please.

Guys i really didn't know if to post or not post this, finally decided it was right to do it.
I'm having some problem with a purchase with member bangalter on an other forum; here us the thread:

http://www.rwgforum.net/index.php?/topic/171688-Bad-experience-with-member-bangalter

I don't want to admit he have stolen my money, I'm still waiting he come back and have this problem fixed.
I decided to share this all with you because of its about a SD at first, but even because somo of you might help me if knows bangalter and finally because if this story will not have an happy end, someone else within you could fall in this sale thread for a gen dial that's still alive.

I'm not going to move this discussion on my problems, so pls answer me with PM if you like.

Thanks for reading.

great stuff! the little watch that could... haha. I also use the bk dw. I have had almost every tc datewheel and to this day I always have centering problems with them. bk's save me my sanity every build. Altho I try every tc dw when they come out. (I'm a sucker for good datewheels) I'm also swiss 2824 but I went with a brand new out of the bag movement and tc's h4 pinions for hand height. I will no longer buy ad swiss movements. this thread is one of the best. period.

oh yeah, if you don't have one, I suggest you go out and buy one now if you are on the fence. bp has already switched to making a terrible version of the new 2014 seadweller so that means this one is probably done.

If you remember ?
I was one that PM him also about the gen SD dial remember?
I could have bought it! But he told me you was talking about buying it to?.At the time I was torn on the thought ...to use TC dial or gen dial!....I ask him about his negative feedback he had on his record! And he didn't come back with a very good response! So I backed away! Something just wasn't right about the deal!
I hope you get your dial! Good luck!

I do remember Rudy...
I had to use TC me too, would have saved lots if money and fury!
But, I trusted bangalter basing on his posts and discussions, previous trades and general feeling.
He looked solid to me!
Thx for words, I still hope to!

Hi experts, sorry to digress. May I know if the new 2813 25j high beat movement will take TC or clark hands?

Anyone have a spare BPSD bezel? Just the metal ring, not the insert or pearl. Let me know and hopefully we can work something out.

Just received a BPSD yesterday. Still has the incorrect color hand lume. Markers are still crooked.

The bezel is much softer, the teeth are not cut crisp like the other BPSD's from 6-12 months ago.

The crown and tube is much smoother to operate. While this is a great improvement, I think the crown may be brass and plated. I will look at it further and let you know.

The bracelet is good, and seems improved. The clasp seems improved, especially the coronet which is crisply stamped. SEL fitment is great. I do not see the need for TC bracelet.

Refurbished older Swiss ETA inside. 2834-2, which is identical to a 2836-2, except for having a day wheel added. This one has been running for a day and keeping very good time.
