Although these GMT movements are engraved as "3186" and dealers often call them as "VR3186", hobbyists call these movements as "VR3185" because these movements' construction are actually a replica of the gen 3185 movement (and not of the gen 3186 movement).

The gen 3185 and gen 3186 movements have a different GMT hand-setting mechanism.

Overall and currently, the VR3185/VR3186 are synonymous (unless VR factory makes an actual clone of the 3186 movement in the future).

The 3186 has blue spring and better shock resistance, correct?

To my knowledge of all the VR3186 I have handled, all VR3186 should have blue hairspring since its release.
E.g., this post dates back to 2019 when VR3186 was announced. It has blue hairspring:

As for shock resistance, in short, I find all clone Rolex movements behave more or less the same

Sorry, I was referring to 3185 vs 3186 in Gen circumstances.

I've received the QC faster than expected :) but I saw two flaws:
1. The dial seems not center (check the distance between the indexes and rehaut). Is that something easily fixable ?
2. The insert printing on the right is too fare from the center (number 6 is printed on the perimeter fir example). Not a big deal I think

I tried to compare this one with pictures of RWI members BP 16710 and they don't have the same problem. What's your input?

Is there a way to center the dial by unscrewing the movement from the back and moving it a little inside the case with the tolerances?
I guess its a matter of half a millimeter at most.
I will also ask the TD a picture of the movement for confirmation.

Are you referring to it not lining up with the insert? Pop the bezel off, remove insert, reinstall bezel and align the insert. Or….its a bad angle

I'm referring to the indexes touching the rehaut around 10pm but not around 4 pm (see red arrows).
Either the dial is not centered inside the case (maybe fixable), or the dial is not printed correctly.
I didn't saw any BP with the same issue from pictures online

It’s possible, or it’s the angle of the photo.

Just reject it and get another

I think the entire movement with dial and hands is not correctly aligned in the case!
Mostly when this issue appears.

I believe it’s normal. The Subs were always thicker.
Submariners have thicker caseback cause of other caseback sealing.
Also for all 5 digits - the difference of crown, tube, caseback, crystal gasket.

5-digits:
Sub (GEN) 300m water resistant (triplock crown)
GMT (GEN) 100m water resistant (twinlock crown)

Same for the EX2 - same as GMT construction
