I think you’re mistaking the six digit gmt. We’re talking about the five digit gmts and they all have the same hands.

The issue he’s having is that the 6 digit also includes “16710” so it pops up in searches when he’s trying to find 5 digit ones.

I have been wanting this watch for some time but couldn't find one that close to gen. Glad I found this thread and sent the picture to my TD and pulled the trigger on this today. Waiting for the QC pictures.

The case is really the downfall of this rep. The chamfers are usually too wide

I'm not getting them confused but I appreciate your clarification on the 5 and 6 digit. The 5 digit is what im after in the 904 stainless, sapphire crystal, 2.5 cyclops, vr 3186 basically a superclone of a coke 5 digit.
My dude, the 16710 was never made in 904l (or oystersteel if you like). These were produced between’89-2007 and sported a 3185 or later a 3186 movement.

The Oystersteel builds came out in 2017/18 ish.

Al that being said you will not find a 904l five digit Rolex. These BPs are a great build and an amazing price point for a solid OOTB watch of potential franken build.

Best of luck on your GMT adventure.

I want to put together a gmt with the bp case. Would removing the “red” areas of the crown guard be feasible and accurate?

I tried to use my old BP 16710 as a base for a 16570. No dice, the gen 16570 bezel wouldn’t fit at all due to the BP case construction. I’ll end up getting a Gen spec case and build a Franken 16710 and 16570.

that, thinner lugs, less chamfer, and a lower rehaut
I’m going to take a stab at modding so I think I might start with the CGs and will mostly use this watch to get comfortable and practice on. The things I will need to research are less chamfer, which I’m sure would change if I thinned the lugs? Also lowering the rehaut. Thank you for pointing me in the right directions

According to these pictures (thanks to KJ2020) it is indeed a VR but 3185 model

It also says 3185 on your movement, not sure what is the difference in quality between VR3185 and VR3186. At least both are accurate for 16710

His says 3186. It’s tough to see, but it’s definitely 3186.

Although these GMT movements are engraved as "3186" and dealers often call them as "VR3186", hobbyists call these movements as "VR3185" because these movements' construction are actually a replica of the gen 3185 movement (and not of the gen 3186 movement).

The gen 3185 and gen 3186 movements have a different GMT hand-setting mechanism.

Overall and currently, the VR3185/VR3186 are synonymous (unless VR factory makes an actual clone of the 3186 movement in the future).
