Not terrible, i have ARF LN GMT and also had a Noob GMT, side by side Noob looked like a joke. I think ARF is superior in every aspect. This is no different, while I agree both have crappie movements and i changed mine to VRF with a decent datewheel, the Batman probably will benefit from a VRF movement as well. I think the insert on ARF LN is very close to Gen, i have replaced mine to Gen but i really did not have to! I am assuming the same type of similarly with BLNR. I think this is the best insert despite its flaws with bolder fronts, which BTW I am sure will be fixed before version 5... lol.

My main concern is if the plating will last?

How are the dials on the ARF’s? I’ve heard in most ARF franken projects, people switching them out for a VRF dial (or a gen obviously).

Well Im volunteering as Guinea pig for now...switched my order from Noob with VRF to ARF with SH. I know its a roses-smell-like-poopoo movement, but the insert appears better than Noob even with the font issues. If the SH holds up with a service then Id be satisfied as a starting point for further mods.

Better off just buying a VR3185 and doing a swap vs servicing the SH. My SH died after 3 months.

I think so too, major problem of the SH movement, the date finger jewel easily wedge or slip under the date wheel teeth and let it stuck, if you adjust the watch then or make some turns in the best case the date finger jewel snaps of in the worth case the teeth of the intermedialwheel are damaged. Good think you can repair that all with gen parts, bad thing you will get 3x VR movements for the price of the gen parts.

Don't forget swapping a VR to an ARF brings some other issues with it: ARF SH GMT and Minute hands are a bit too loose,

What's the general consensus on how bad the SH3186? I was leaning towards buying the ARF because of the finishing. My experience with the noob finishing is bad especially the bracelet with stuck screws and stripped heads trying to getting them out. I bought an arf bracelet and was just amazed how good the quality is.

The SH is pretty crap. I've had 2 fail on me already. It's best to buy a VR3185 immediately and put that in

Thanks and that's a pretty bad failure rate. Sounds worst then the infamous SA3135. My personal experience with the SA3135 was it miraculously never broke down....

Amateur-hour question, but where do we pick up the VR movement? Do I just tack that on my order with my TD? I've ordered spare parts before, but never a full movement.

To be honest, I'd buy a VRF GMT and use the dial plus movement. Then simply swap the ARF parts into the VRF watch and then sell the VRF.
Or, if the ARF bracelet fits nicely, use the VRF case too.

yeah you would ask the TD....it will depend if VR is allowing the sale of just the movement....sometimes they do. I asked for a 4130 for a daytona and noob doesn't allow it. But ask your TD and see what they say.

Thrill is great, I got one from him and it runs great! Another option is @tyseo4 I’ve bought from him based on several referrals and I would recommend paying an extra $100 to have him service it especially if it’s a keeper. They wind and run just awesomenessly!! There’s a site microstellar.shop where you can order from. I’m not sure if it’s @tyseo4 ‘s or not but worth a look.

Check the parts and acessroies section in the sales forum. There is a thread in there where thrillofhunt is selling the VR3135 and VR3186
