I have a question on this as well. My understanding about the speed bumps are that the transition between the blue and black shows a visible line across the number (6, 18).
Is this correct or is there still something im not understanding.

I'm curious as well, I thought there was only a vr3185, that just happened to be engraved 3186 for show?

There is only one VR true clone GMT movement. RWI decided to call it the VR3185 to differentiate it from the SH3186 (ARF) and the SA3186 (GMF). 3185 was chosen for the VR because its design is more similar to the gen 3185, including the click spring.

Gen jumping hour click springs compared

Factories and TDs have called the 3135 that first appeared in the VR, a VR3135 so it made sense to call the VR GMT movement a VR3185. Factories and TDs call the VR3185 an SA3186. It has been engraved 3186 on 11671x models, and 3285 in 12671x models.

The VR3185 can run well unserviced with no gen parts IME. Obviously more is always better when it comes to servicing and gen parts replacements.

in regards to the VR3185 and VR3186. Please be aware there are 2 replicas movement with GMT function but totally different designs but the same engraving bridge of 3186. They are lazy to change the bridge. As for your question to 3185 and 3186 difference, the 3185 has the wiggle GMT hand but is very reliable. But the 3186 has a flaw design even in gen movement. A spring that breaks easily. You may read more here.

KJ2020 the ones ThrillofHunt is selling is labeled a VR3186. So is it actually the VR3185 or an SH3186? Bridge stamps aside.

There are actually 4 true clone replica GMT movements. The ARF SH3186 is different from the GMF SA3186, which uses a proprietary jump click that operates differently in terms of crown operation.

On the GMF SA3186, forward crown rotation in crown position 2 jumps the hour hand backward, like the 2824 CHS timebomb. This is opposite of how the VR/SH/Gen 3185/6 operates. The SA3186 sets time correctly (forward crown = forward hands in crown position 3), so its combination of crown operations is a mixed bag that matches no gen counterpart.

GMF recently upgraded their SA3186 to an SA3285, which changed how time sets to backward crown = forward hands in crown position 3, and keeping the hour jumping the same. This new combination of crown operations does match the gen 3285 counterpart. So if you have a 12671x rep this is the only rep true clone GMT movement with correct crown operations. However, both GMF movements use the greatly inferior SA3135 base, along with the poor SA3135 balance assembly.

Thrillofhunt is selling what RWI calls VR3185. They are the goods ones, buy with confidence. We tried to keep this confusion from happening, oh well. Just make sure it has the gold balance shock absorber block.

I think that what you are calling the vr3186 is not from VRF. It's from ARF and we call it here the sh3186. VRXXXX means it's coming from VRF

VRF only produces a VR3185, as it's based on the 3185 design, however some are engraved 3186 or 3285

And on top of that you have a couple of other movements, as explained above by KJ2020
