Yeah, it’s a tension wire.

I do think it makes more sense to create a 5513 with these cases. One could reshape the case, age the bezel insert, remove pip and get the 5513 crystal that is also sold on AliX, rather than creating a 14060
Does the same store sell the 5513? Or do I have to remove the original crystal, measure it and find a replacement by myself?

You would probably need to do some tinkering with the case and check if AliX 5513 crystal would actually fit.

Reduce the hassle and check out the jkf5513 instead

A 14060 has a click bezel, so yeah, better use this for a 5513
Would it then make for a budget 16800 transition? Or is the 14060 case very different from the 5513/1680 case?

On another note, I’ve got the final parts for my 14060 build in the coming days. Looking forward to working on it more this week.

For those who are interested.

Bezel insert 14060 outside diameter is 36.55mm inside diameter: 29.7mm

the bezel assembly gets a wider toothing at its perimeter than subsequent references. This alters the visual identity of the watch in a minor, but noticeable way, appearing a bit flatter overall.

25 286 crystal

crystal diameter is 29.39mm
gasket is 2.34mm height
the internal diameter of the gasket (with the crystal installed) is around 29.00mm /28.44

The 14060 is listed as a 40mm watch,
however it measures a bit under that at 39.4mm

The thickness is reported to be 12.2mm

First of all, hands down for this amazing thread and all of your experience/infos you share!
I am planing a 14060 build too. After a short check, Sillian wants 250$ for his case, so I will try the AliX way.
My biggest concern is the beat rate of the NH38. I prefer to use a 2824 or 3135/3130 clone for a smoother second hand running and a more Rolex feeling.
Did anyone tested one of the movements in an AliX case?
Thank you

Stem height of 3130 is 2.2mm from memory.
NH38 is 1.92
0.3mm deviation can be enough to shear your stem during winding.

The AliX case was my choice for a budget build under 400€ my work fee included

If you are doing it yourself, then I would seriously recommend starting from the Sillian if a 3130 is involved. The only issue would be the lugholes to drill blank. The AliX case has predrilled holes

Another option to consider is starting from a BPF 16610. Lugholes still an issue but you will get the 3135 mvt and the hands set

You will need to live with the ghost date though.

All in all, it’s a question of compromise and what type of work you prefer to avoid

Thanks for all of your feedback and advices. I will try the AliX way with the NH38.
The stem height will be problematic for the 2824 and the NHs are very reliable.

Sillian and BP will be significand more expensive and I will try the case work.
Around 200€ is optimal for the start.

I just received the case myself, not too worried about the bezel and crystal (for now), will primarily work on CG. So exited to start this journey too!
