nice - looks great. I knew that would look perfect.

what size did you get and how long is it?

They only had the standard size on the Panerai website. It’s the same length as the rep strap.
Personally I would have liked an XS strap because of my tiny 16cm wrists.
It’s now on the second to last hole.
Can’t have it all right?;-)

For those curious here is the reference number for the gen strap that comes with the watch. It’s somewhat hard to find on the Panerai website lol.

And here is the reference number for the watch strap that jeffah123 purchased:

If you don’t see the “add to bag” option on the Panerai website you can either call their concierge and they can ship them out in 6-8 weeks, or you can check your local AD’s ... they will ship them in 1-3 days if they have them in stock.

Just arrived. The dial does have that metallic effect like the 1616 and 799. It looks pretty nice so far.

It's been here for all of 10 minutes. Haha.

Good morning all,
I'm new in the forum, writing from Italy. I'd like to ask you where you would suggest to buy a PAM 1661 homage and if you could expect an acceptable quality level. Or this is totally a crapshoot. I'm seriously tempted but I would not like to receive rubbish. I read page 9 of this thread: a member was seriously in trouble with alignment and the movement worked very bad. Thank you very much for your answer

Hi guys, just got mine from JTime and wanted to change the strap. My dhGate strap came with a push pin tool but for some crazy reason, it is so hard to push the pin in and disengage it. Am I doing it right? It doesn’t have the quick release that my pam683 and pam312 has. This one is way harder. Any tips? Don’t want to break it or scratch.

Yeah. We were talking about this just yesterday (and a few other places in this thread). Go back one or two page or scroll up to see the discussion in more detail but bottom line, it’s a spring bar model. Just use a spring bar tool to access them inside the lugs.

Got it! Thanks for the tip. I flipped the tool over and was able to remove it. Wish it was quick release since the sharp edge can scratch the strap.

Ordered and received mine from Trusty for about over 2 weeks. Wore it on several occassions and my conclusion is as follows:

- a 44mm all black panerai is very inconspicuous... While i enjoy the blue lume and details, when i look at myself in mirrors, i find that the watch does not stand out at all. I am afraid this will spend alot of time in the watch drawer... I am glad i did not spend 12k on it...

- the watch itself is very well built and i am glad i got to try the new tech materials and combination at a fraction of the price of the original.

- time keeping of reps is great these days. No real complaint here.

- wondering if a strap change will help the watch stand out a little more...

Since quarantine started or the stay at home ordwr started, I have been doing a lot of work from home and over the course of the day, when things are slow, I will change watches. Or maybe I'll break out the camera and take some pics. Whatever.

I got the 1661 and put it on and I haven't put on another watch at all. I haven't switched or swapped the watch that I'm wearing. It has only been the 1661.

And it does feel really comfortable on wrist. I love it. I love the size and the fit, the way it looks on wrist, the way it feels on wrist. I haven't spent a lot of time with 44mm Pams but this is beautiful and this is a model that could easily push me into other 44mm models.

Also I spent a lot of time looking over details and vsf did an outstanding job putting this together. Outstanding. Very few details are off.

Outstanding. Let me just say I received the delivery on 7/18, I set the time - to the second and here I am 6 days later with about +4 sec in 6 days. I've worn the watch every day since.

My PAM has been keeping amazing time as well!!! It blows my other reps out of the water. For the past 5 weeks I’m only off a few seconds total. Haven’t needed to adjust a thing. Love it

Just curious if anyone's been scoping out the differences between gen and the rep?

I've gotten to the point where I can easily spot whether a watch is a rep or a gen based on a few details but wondering if I missed anything.

What tells/details are you using? Here are the 3 that have been working for me.

I generally use the lume color as a tell, as the blue is much darker on the gen.

I also use the lettering and logo on the dial which is thicker on the vsf version. But this is only noticible when there is a gen close by. I don't know if I would say "that's too bold" without something to compare it to.

And one big tell is the date window. The date wheel on gen must be finished the same way as the dial.
On both versions (gen and vsf), at different angles, the dial has a different look whether it is flat black or metallic black or matte. On the gen the color or finish of the datewheel is the same as the dial. Whatever angle the dial is facing, the datewheel has those same properties on the gen. whereas on the rep, it's just a black datewheel. It is the same as the dial at 1 angle but at others, it is different so it sticks out.

Here are some of the details I mentioned and some others worth checking out imo. I have these collages for just about every mm of the watch so of you'd like to see anything specific let me know.

Yesterday I received mine. I have to say it is really well done. I have several gen pam and it’s really difficult find imperfections in this one.
Something that I notice is the sound of the movement, that is very loud comparing to the gen automatic ones.. I do not know if with a service and the right oils it can disappear
