Yesterday I received mine. I have to say it is really well done. I have several gen pam and it’s really difficult find imperfections in this one.
Something that I notice is the sound of the movement, that is very loud comparing to the gen automatic ones.. I do not know if with a service and the right oils it can disappear

I had the same issue. Was an easy fix with some Molykote DX in the bearings of the rotor.

It’s something can be done at home just removing the backcase or there are also part of the movement to remove?

What size did you buy and what is the lenght of this strap please? I'm trying to confirm the sizes/lengths of Panerai sizes.

What rubber ? Is 100% leather on the back of the strap as I metioned many times here and also others.

I think what I mentioned last is correct. I have a brown leather rep strap that came with a watch I purchased. It is actually a nice strap and I mounted it on a watch and some 91% isopropyl alcohol fell on a spot.

I got a leather conditioner and it has the color of the "leather" running like crazy now. As soon as I touch the strap onto the leather and saw the color bleed I was like "awww well I guess it's not real leather".

They only had the standard size on the Panerai website. It’s the same length as the rep strap.
Personally I would have liked an XS strap because of my tiny 16cm wrists.
It’s now on the second to last hole.
Can’t have it all right?;-)

Just arrived. The dial does have that metallic effect like the 1616 and 799. It looks pretty nice so far.

That like midnight blue/faded black strap is awesome. I got it from S.T. Strap when they were having a sale on straps they already had made (straps customers never picked up or ones they made just for pics).

I love those sales because I'll take a strap that's ready to go that I otherwise might not think to order and this purchase there were a few of those. I lucked out.

It's a good question... I like the 1616 with the 42mm size, but I like the classic design of the 1661.... ????????????

it’s tricky. For me, the 1616 is so big and bulky and black that it almost looks like a toy. I put the 1661 on and It hugged the wrist more and felt a little more manageable.

but I have the 799 and where it is just a little less black (steel case, a little silver in the dial) that I would probably take the 799 over the 1661 and 1616. But I like 47mm models a lot more all other things being equal.

so it’s tough to say and personal preference comes in to play quite a bit.

For those interested, I have received my gen strap. Here are some photos.

Overall close to the rep, but as expected the quality of the leather and stitching is better on the gen.

The rep strap looks to be a pretty good effort - standard VRF I guess. You can't beat Gen though, congrats.

Nice. The stitching in the gen looks like it matches the color of the gen lume/indices which are much darker than the vsf.
