@occd2, your service to NYC and the security of those who live and pass thru it has taken a tremendous toll on your body, and I respect the courage and perseverance you showed during your two decades of dedication to your duty. My wife has a former college room mate who also retired recently from the police force in the San Diego area, and her physical experiences are similar to yours, and many others who have served along side of you. The cost to each is significant and irreversible. You (and she) have my admiration and my gratitude, but not my envy. My comment regarding envy is towards the flexibility of your budget for these builds, but fully understand the price you paid (and continue to pay) to be in this position. Hope your health can improve now that your body no longer has to produce what your obligations demand of it.
I just took my family to Dairy Queen to celebrate the NY, so I know how valuable and important their support is, and how important is my duty towards protecting and providing for them. It is wonderful that you now get to spend more time with yours, even though this opportunity has come at tremendous cost to you. We on this forum also get to benefit from your time, insights, and comments, and I among many appreciate the time you spend here. May it continue for a long time, as the experience for us here will be richer because of your contributions.
