Nah man, if you're gonna wear a rep into an AD then you gotta flash it like you own the place! And demand a glass of scotch while you shop. If you're gonna do it - go all out.

I know the post is old but hahaha nice one.

100 % use- and pointless discussion.
What's your benefit walking in there with your rep on, despite your "curiousity"? No high-class AD will call you out but rather change the tone of the sales chat - to ask you to leave the store because you have a replica on your wrist is also pretty awkward for them.
And BTW: I don't buy it that you own any gen Pam, as you trying to validate if you will be called out or not - if you have a gen you know or see the little differences. But this is not meant as an accusation but rather another point why this thread is pointless as you should be at least honest here...

puhhhh: Should have read all four pages or took a look at the date...

I think this discussion is interesting on a secondary level. Honestly: I think it broadly overstates the knowledge of the staff. Last time I walked in a Bell and Ross AD they did not want to believe me that the BR03 Aviation was Quartz .... and then they did not want to believe me when I told them the approximate price (noo, it can't be that cheap) - they had to look it up in the catalogue. So really imho the probability that a sales guy in an AD spots the rep is close to zero absolute .... Now, would I go with a fake watch in an AD ... no, or at least not the brands they were dealing.... sorry for posting on a old thread ... tried to delete it, didn't see how ...

Last summer I walked into a jewelry store (Naples, FA) with my sister because she wanted to check out some bracelets etc. I noticed they were selling Rolex and I went to check them out. A sales person walked by and first she only greeted me, then she spotted my PAM111 and then asked if I wanted to try something out.

It wasn't because of Marlin's masterpiece, but because I acted normal. But then again, I would't walk into the Panerai AD that was there too...

I thought that wearing your rep into an AD was a big no no here, like against the rules. am I wrong?

It most definitely is! Not a good idea folks. Leave the watch in the car, or take off and put in coat pocket long before entering the store!
Honestly - the best watch to wear to an AD is no watch! :)

When I was in Hong Kong I went to every AD wanting a good price on a 312 I wore my 111 Noob and some of the staff wanted to try my watch on as I had to take it off many times trying what ever I liked,I did it to see if any one would call me out.No one did they were excited that I liked the brand even gave me the chance to try the 47mm titanium regatta which was beautiful.

Needed the self-affirmation, eh?
They wanted to sell you a watch bro, and likely wouldn't call you out even if they knew - as that would be awkward! And the majority of sales people (no matter the field) wouldn't disrespect a potential customer like that.
Afterward, did you feel like you pulled the wool over their eyes? ;)
Cheers :)

If I stumbled across a PAM Outlet and had one of my reps on, the only one I would hesitate to wear inside is my Bronzo. The gen version is too rare to avoid a lot of attention. I also have reps of the 188, 196, 029, 371, 389 and would just wear it in if I didn't know ahead of time that I'd be stopping in. If I planned a visit, I would probably wear something else. Rep or gen, but a non-Pam.

If challenged in the store, I would absolutely admit it as a rep. If they didn't like it, tough shit for them! Ask me to leave, try to sell me a gen, whatever. I'm giving serious consideration to a gen 389, but the rep is so darn good, I can't bring myself to spend 5-figures for the gen quite yet. The 389 has definitely become my favorite piece!

I agree it depends on how you carry yourself. You can walk in with a gen and they can still think it's fake or you stole it.

That would be a nice day indeed when you're able to do so....and yes, I agree with the rep 389 being a fav pice! Need to get mine soon before it decides to go way up in price wherein, I can't even get the rep...LOL

I stopped by Tourneau and asked "who has the best sub?"
They quickly sent the manager over to me who said to pm BK for a v5 noob.
