I think alot of depends on how you look, act and dress. If they dont think you can afford a $12,000 watch they will assume its a rep. I will leave the quality of the rep and being called out on that to the experts.

If you insist, just walk in casually, but make no attempt to show it. Keep it in your wrist and down. They could be really good in spotting it as a fake. That would be shameful for you, right? And then you would not be able to walk in there again next time. Most watch ADs begin to look at what you are wearing the moment you walk in. If it were me, I would remove and put that watch into my pocket, before I get near that watch store. It is really not about disrespect , but about being fakey and sly, untrustworthy if you go in with that and they spot a fake on you.

So actually, it can't tell if we just wear like that. Unless the look at the back of the watch, right?

I got a gen Panerai also ... Since I found this forum, I felt no point buying a lot of gen Panerai. My intention to buy Panerai is bcoz I like the beauty and outstanding aesthetic of Pam.

Most staff in boutique/AD are good enough to spot the rep.
My friend in ION BT said recently they have found several man worn zf brozo to drop in.
And then §€€Â¥Â£$#%

I would say it depends on how bad your replica is.

Also depends on how you cary yourself, if you walk in flashing it at everyone and constantly put it in the dealers face, then you're probably going to get called out.

I wore my 243 in an AD. I didn't flash it around, or even think twice of wearing it. It was just what was on my wrist at the time. I even left it on the table when trying on some other watches.

If you're paranoid, you'll probably show it, and you'll get called out. If you act like an idiot about it, you'll probably get called out. If you wear some super-rare model, you'll probably get called out. If you know nothing about your watch (gen movement, real price, etc) you'll probably get called out.

If you act like you belong, no one will think twice.

Village, of course
if you have a gen why not wear it and enjoy it especially when you visit the AD? why do you want to 'test the water'?

:confuse:

No, I don't think so. Imo, not only boutique staff, but the whole watch afficionados around the world will have a hard time spotting fake/gen just by glancing at it on your wrist. Especially a boutique staff, if their eyes is too focused on my current watch, from my first entrance to the boutique, I would at least feel a bit insulted. They should focus to smile and greet me well!

However, I can safely say, these two factors will affect their judgment whether you are wearing rep/gen watch;
1. The way how you are dressed, how you speak, your hair, your self esteem, your overall being.
2. The quality of the rep itself.

Crown guard is an easy tell for someone in the business, me thinks
Anyway going into an AD with your rep is not only disrespectful but also plain stupid.

I do think its disrespectful to wear a straight up rep to an AD. Reps are an affront to how the staff at the ADs make their living.

Now would I wear a Franken with mostly gen parts?... ;)

They're not going to do anything to harm a potential sale. If it got back up through the corporate ranks that they did anything differently because of a suspected rep the employee would be in trouble. All they care about is selling watches, representing the brand well, and treating current and potential customers well.

It's cheesy and classless to wear a rep, sure, but I can't see them risking the blowback of throwing a customer out of their store. And if they were wrong….

That and I can't see my AD throwing anyone out of the store. They're just too nice.
