these are not recommendable. Looks good at first sight, but they are miles away from the original straps
They’re not meant to look exactly like the original straps since they are canvas.

Finally got her all put back together. I ended up ordering two crystals, one with AR (from Prof) and one without. After comparing the two, I prefer with AR, so installed the one from Prof.

The crown was a little rough, so I hit it very lightly with some 600 grit followed by a light polish and it turned out quite nice. Also silenced the rotor, though surprisingly this one wasn’t too loud from the factory.

All-in-all, I’m very happy with this one. I think I’ll keep it for a little while.

is there a DIY for Panerai crystal changes? I’m familiar and confident with Rolex but never opened up a Panerai.

I received my 1579 and everything has already been said about it. I am just adding some personal impressions here:

Case & Dial:

This is once again the standard VSF case which we already know from the previous 42mm Submersibles and of course this one is also too thick compared to the gen. I meassured approx. 14.7mm (compared to the 13.22mm gen).

This dial is great. Although I couldn't catch the textured dial on camera which is anyway only visible at direct sunlight. The datewheel is perfectly aligned, but as usual there is not instant date flip at midnight. The date change starts slowly around 22:30h which looks a bit out of alignement until it really flips.

Also nothing new is the fish eye effect of the xtal. I think it's not sooo bad overall. And this flaw is only visible when you look from a certain angle at the watch.

I am really positively surprised by the strap. It's the first time now that VSF provides a Luna Rossa strap which is really close to gen (I think someone posted here already the gen vs. rep comparison). And it also feels very good on the wrist!

Also, there is still some rotor noise noticable. Nothing serious, but still space for improvement. I would rate is with a "2". (1 = no rotor noise, 2 = slight rotor noise,... 5 = heavy rotor noise).

Everything else has already been said. Here just some final wrist shots:

Summary:
If you like the PAM 42mm Submersibles, this is really something for your collection. There are "only" the VSF standard flaws which aren't a surprise anymore.

Positive aspects:
- nice textured dial
- great Luna Rossa strap

Negaive ascpects:
- still some fish eye effects on the xtal
- date flip not instantly
- case 1.5mm too thick

I know this is not the thread for the PAM 1507, but I think a short review here suits perfectly.

Case & dial:

We also see here the standard VSF 42mm Submersible case, with one difference: this is a titanium case. I didn't weighed the watch, but it's definitely lighter than the 1579! But still the case is 1.5mm too thick compared to the gen.

We have one big surprise on the xtal here! There is no fish eye effect on the 1507 xtal! I think you can see it on the pictures below. I just wonder why this can't be accomplished with all the other 42mm Subs from VSF!

This blue sunburst dial is just amazing. The pictures can't catch the full sunburst effect. I think we know this dial already from a 44mm PAM, but it just looks great in real life. That's an absolute highlight.

On the other hand let's talk about the biggest flaw of this watch: the GMT function of the hand is only working by 12 hours, but the dial has a 24 GMT design. In my opinion that's really hard to swallow. The easiest solution would be, that you set the GMT hand 1:1 with your regular hour hand, so that both are running simultaneously.

We have also here a slight rotor noise which I also would rate with a "2". (1 = no rotor noise, 2 = slight rotor noise,... 5 = heavy rotor noise). And the rest is the same like the 1579 above: great Luna Rossa strap, which feels very comfy on the wrist and no instant date flip at midnight.

Summary:
Overall it's also a very nice VSF PAM 42mm Submersible, but if you can't life with the GMT flaw I would suggest to go for the PAM 1565 (at least it has the same dial).

Positive aspects:
- great sunburst dial
- no fish eye effect
- light weighted titan case
- great Luna Rossa strap

Negative aspects:
- GMT flaw (12 hours vs 24 hours)
- slight rotor noise
- case too thick (1.5mm)
- date flip not instantly

@weathermanGTS - one more thing, I was about to get the gen Luna Rossa strap before I've even received the watch, but after reading your impressions, I think I'll move funds to my "new watch fund". That alone will almost be enough for the 1507, so I REALLY appreciate it 😁

I never had a gen Luna Rossa strap on my wrist, but I really believe that this upgrade is not necessary ;)

1507 is nice! But the 12 hr GMT kills it for me.
I'm happy that I'm a simpler soul and couldn't care less. It's just made it to the top of my shopping list. Maybe I'll even add it to my existing order and save a couple of shekels on shipping. So refreshing to find something exciting after running on the Rolex hamsterwheel for the past couple of years, yaaay 🥰

I’m also quite happy with the feel of the Luna strap. The print could be better compared to gen but it doesn’t bother me enough to buy a gen strap.

I wish it didn’t bother me. If details didn’t matter, I’d have bought the lemans Daytona by now but again the 12 hour chrono bugs me even though I have no use for a 24 hr chrono. It’s irrational

Might fine review! It seems @weathermanGTS the only weather you forecast is Panerai weather! How many submersibles do you own now? 10? Haha
